I were you I would choose Aviation Machinist Mate (AD) because you have more options for enlisted aircrew duties such as flight engineer on C-130s or P-3s. Also, in the not to distant future AD, AM and AME will be combined into one rating. The civilian counterpart to an A & P Machanic. The AO will most likely be combined with AT and AE.

Don't get wrong- the AO rating has its rewards as well but if your considering carrer as an A&P Machanic then AD is the way to go.

AD's work on aircraft engines, AO's load bombs, missiles and guns; If you want practical transferable experience for your A&P pick AD. Also keep personal records of all training all all MAF's (maintenace action forms) you sign off on.; you will need this when you get discharged so that when you go to a school you'll have something to show them.

Classic Aviation! The propeller of the plane is just a giant fan to keep the pilot cool. Don't believe me? Turn it off and watch him sweat

it seems like ordnance would either load or drop bombs. If you plan to be a mechanic when you get out, I would side with AD.
