My friend went to her daughter's church camp tonight to stay the last night with them. She took her own tent to sleep in. She grew up in this church (Morman) and they shunned her because she is no longer active in the church. My friend is my life partner. Were they justified or ignorant. Who are they to judge? Her feelings were very hurt and so were her girls feelings. We have known of more men in the church cheating on their wives and yet they still sit high on the pedestal. My friend and I have been together for 12 years and are good people. We just don't go to the morman church anymore.

IGNORANT!! As a member of the church those kind of people really tick me off!! Not all of the wards are like that though. that Ward just happened to be full of hypocrites. try a different ward. I'm so sorry that she was treated like that. those members have no ground to stand on for their actions! we aren't all like that just find a nicer ward or branch.

As much as I am NOT a gay basher, Id have to say they were justified. Do I think it is right? No, but they were acting in what they believe is right as a religion. We cannot force our personal beliefs on other people as much as we don't want them to force theirs on us. It would be not unlike a smoker going into a non smokers house and lighting up. The non smoker doesnt want that in their home and they are justified in saying so. And they also shouldnt go into a smokers home and tell them to put it out either.

I believe that it is ok to eat any kind of meat, but Id never serve a Jew bacon because I think he's wrong for staying away from it. Understand?

Im sure they are ignorant, but still even if they are well educated in homosexuality they still might not like it and we cant make people accept what they dont like.

They may feel they are justified, but in reality they are ignorant because they are intolerant of your friend's religious preferences. They are closed-minded for shunning people who do not think the same way that they do.
Men are traditionally the leaders and owners and deciders of everything in the Mormon church, which continues today, so they are much more easily accepted and excused from despicable "indiscretions".

If it is against their principles then you cannot rightly ask them to embrace her. However, if they are accepting her daughter then they really were unfair, especially since she just wanted to be with her daughter and not engage in any other activities that might affect their teachings. However, she is entering their domain and they have a right against their property. It's still unfair, but ???

i doubt it is fair. but their faith is their faith. and it was at a church function (i'm assuming Mormon). so they feel justified. I'd say take it on the chin. think erosion, one drop of change at a time. be yourselves (good people) and others will see this. remember "to thine own self....."

Ignorant... the Bible plainly says that we should not judge each other - God does that.
