you need to buy the office suite. It is very expensive, you can also try openOffice, which is not as good as word. No spelling check and missing many other other functionalities, but free.

The short awnser is no.
The long awnser is that some OEMs do include office or an office trial in the restore CD they provide(hp comes to mind)
If you don't have it and don't want to pay 500$ for it, get openoffice from openoffice.org
It's free and it works great

Just do what most folks do, as do most large corporations, and world governments... download the FREE Open Office suite that also reads and converts ALL Microsoft Office products since 1987! PLUS, it does stuff Microsoft Office can't do, even for $495.00 Retail! ODF (Open Document Format), very much like Adobe .pdf.

No. Word is part of a suite of programs called microsoft office. You used to could buy word by itself, not sure if you still can or not. Try here.....http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/FX010857991033.aspx A viewer for word docs is free from microsoft. But to create them, you need word. Don't got no cash, try Open Office(http://www.openoffice.org/). It's free and mostly compatible with Microsoft Office, although slower to load.
