Yes, it is, but you should only be using it for a dandruff problem. There are many shampoos out there designed for dry hair, some with built-in conditioners (including some versions of Head & Shoulders).
If your mom is worried about the cost and there is a Wal-Mart that you go to, look for their Equate brand, which is the same formula as what it copies, and costs less. Suave is another good brand at a lower price. In all cases, look for a dry hair formula and either get one with a conditioner or buy a separate conditioner and use it.

Would you use Purex or Cheer on your hair?
The products you buy in the salon are guaranteed, most salons will exchange or refund your money if you don't like the product.
Just keep in mind that 5-7 days are the usual time limit they give you to return. I have seen some people return products empty.
Do the grocery stores refund your money if you use it for 5-7 days? Probably not.
Stick with the good stuff, it costs more but u will use less to cleanse your hair. So the cost is about equal.

My hairstylist told me it's responsible for my color fading, and when I stopped using it, I no longer faded. But, I have ultra-fine hair too, and I loved the body that Head and Shoulders (especially the 2 in 1) gave me. Mikey (my stylist) explained that it was drying my hair out - that's why it had so much volume. I've started using a color safe shampoo, but for special occassions, when I want my hair to look fuller, I pull out the old Head and Shoulders! Head and Shoulders is designed to treat dry, itchy scalp, and there's no secret ingredient that helps keep you from shedding. But, if you like it, and your hair isn't color treated or dry, use away!

I don't know about on a human but I had a mostly black dog and she had dandruff. I asked the vet what to do and he said to use Head and Shoulders when I bathed her. Worked like a charm!

truthfully, i used it for a interval of time, and my hair did drop considerably. I attributed it on the time to replacing shampoos. I dont understand of any cause (eg a chemical in it) that could reason it although

no, it's not good for your hair, because it's nothing but chemicles.
You should try something thats all natural, Burts Bees brand is great, and you can find it at Longs Drugstore.
