Parenting classes should be a requirement for graduation. Most will become parents and need a class.?

I feel that everyone should have to take a parenting class before they can graduate because just about everybody in the world will be parents some day. There are a ton of teen pregnancies and the teens will need to know how to take care of the baby. It is sad but I know a 13 yr old that already has 2 little kids. I don't understand how a 13 yr old can handle taking care of a child.

I agree with those above, it is the parents responsiblity. Unfortunately there are a lot of parents in this generation where both parents generally work or single parenting is too common. The discipline and education by parents is very slack - (not everyone but I see it a lot with other parents I've encountered)
It may not be a bad idea that SOMEONE teaches parenting AND preventing unplanned pregnancies Not sure if it should be a school responsibilty. They already have to cover in other areas for the parents who expect everyone else to raise their kids.

I think parents should be primarily responsible for that. I think a parenting program for all parents should be required by the state for your first child offered through the hospital or something. They gave us a required parenting class when i had my kids but it wasn't very detailed. It was general information. I have worked with children including handicapped children since I was 13 so I already knew all the stuff they covered but yes, there is a problem and somehow it needs to be resolved.

I just put my 11 year old in a babysitting class offered by the Red Cross even though she didn't ask about babysitting. I thought it would be good to know and might even start her volunteering at church in the baby room to get some experience in dealing with children like I did.

No, bad idea. Not everyone is going to become a parent at all. If a 13 year old can have kids then when do you propose they have the class.... when they are 10?

I don't think it's the school's responsibility to give parenting classes. It's unfortunate that "kids" are having kids these days but where does the parent's responsibility lay? Shouldn't that be something that is talked about and taught at home?

run 4 president,you got my vote.that is a damn good idea,wish id thought of it,ive always said they shouldnt allow every one to take home a baby just because they can make one.just read the part about the baby having 2 babys -im 31 w/ a3yr &15mth & it is HARD in every sense of the word .i cannot imagine....that is so sad

once you've too a lot authorities they're all interest-scared and more desirable than keen to snowball any/each little no longer something right into a occupation for themselves, and the off chance to be some sort of hero with a medal/trophy.

yep with the amounts of stuff parents are neglecting something needs to be done...

put parenting classes along side sex ed which needs to be taught before 13 considering 60% of our 14 year olds are experimenting with sex

wow that's horrible that is way to young just a baby herself it is so hard to raise a kid especially raise them right a kid that young is still a child and she is never gonna be able to experience being a kid but hey everything happens for a reason and those kids were meant to be here so good luck to her and her baby's and hopefully she gets lots of help

Wrong. A parenting class means we are conceding to the fact that these children are going to be parents. They need sex education to PREVENT that from happening.

This is something that kids used to learn from their moms and dads and then from baby sitting. Too bad this job also needs to be outsourced to the schools.

It should be taken a step further, you need a license to drive a car, operate a boat, own a gun. Shouldn't you be licensed to raise children?
