Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.

Without a doubt, true love is appreciated wherever we go. The love that can make a real difference in life is that described by the Bible writer Paul: “Love is long-suffering and kind. Love is not jealous, it does not brag, does not get puffed up, does not behave indecently, does not look for its own interests, does not become provoked. It does not keep account of the injury. It does not rejoice over unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.”—1 Corinthians 13:4-8.

Yes, “love never fails.” Love heals. Love unites. Love is shown not just by words but by unselfish actions. Love has a pure motive. Paul also wrote: “If I give all my belongings to feed others, and if I hand over my body, that I may boast, but do not have love, I am not profited at all.” If we make sacrifices or give gifts just to be seen by others, then from God’s viewpoint it is in vain.—1 Corinthians 13:3.

Jesus put it this way: “When you go making gifts of mercy, do not blow a trumpet ahead of you, just as the hypocrites do . . . that they may be glorified by men. Truly I say to you, They are having their reward in full. But you, when making gifts of mercy, do not let your left hand know what your right is doing.” Yes, love does not boast or brag.—Matthew 6:2, 3.

What Is Love?

One description of love is ‘a feeling of warm personal attachment or deep affection, a warm fondness or liking for another.’ It is a quality that moves people to work for the good of others, sometimes at great personal sacrifice. Love, as it is described in the Bible, involves both the mind and the heart. The mind, or intellect, plays a role because a person who loves does this with his eyes open, recognizing that he and other humans that he loves all have weaknesses as well as attractive qualities. The intellect is further involved since there are those whom a Christian loves—sometimes, perhaps, against his natural inclinations—because he knows from his reading of the Bible that God wants him to do so. (Matthew 5:44; 1 Corinthians 16:14) Still, love basically comes from the heart. Genuine love as it is revealed in the Bible is never merely intellectual. It entails deep sincerity and full emotional commitment.—1 Peter 1:22.

People who are selfish at heart are rarely capable of a truly loving relationship because a person who loves is prepared to put the interests of another ahead of his own. (Philippians 2:2-4) Jesus’ words “there is more happiness in giving than there is in receiving” are especially true when the giving is an act of love. (Acts 20:35) Love is a powerful bond. (Colossians 3:14) It often includes friendship, but the bonds of love are stronger than those of friendship. The romantic relationship between a husband and his wife is sometimes described as love; however, the love that the Bible encourages us to cultivate is more enduring than physical attraction. When a couple truly love each other, they remain together even if a physical relationship is no longer possible because of the infirmities of old age or because one of them is incapacitated

Love is a condition or phenomenon of emotional primacy, or absolute value. Love generally includes an emotion of intense attraction to either another person, a place, or thing; and may also include the aspect of caring for or finding identification with those objects, including self love. Love can describe an intense feeling of affection, an emotion or an emotional state. In ordinary use, it usually refers to interpersonal love, an experience usually felt by a person for another person. Love is commonly considered impossible to define.

BUT.. there are all sorts/kinds of LOVE so be careful... some of these.. not all.. are listed below:

Erotic love – desire characterized by sexual desires.

Familial love – affection brokered through kinship connections, intertwined with concepts of attachment and bonding.

Free love – sexual relations according to choice and unrestricted by marriage.

Platonic love – a close relationship in which sexual desire is nonexistent or has been suppressed or sublimated.

Puppy love – romantic affection that is not "mature" or not "true". although the term is usually used to refer to love between younger people, it is incorrect to believe that adults do not experience puppy love or that romantic affection between younger people is never "mature" or "true".

Religious love – devotion to one’s deity or theology.

Romantic love – affection characterized by a mix of emotional and sexual desire.

Unrequited love – affection and desire not reciprocated or returned. (This is the kind that I always seem to get involved with....lol)

Without actually looking up the Greek, I would like to put it in everyday terms...

It is seeing through and beyond the finite. To know that the wickedness that you see in someone is not really "them" per say, as much as it is a "prison" in which they unknowingly live. Many times it is a prison made from the brick and mortar of pain. We can't know. That is why we MUST LOVE, not just "wanna love". Making a conscious choice to help release that person from the prison chains that bind them.

I never really knew or understood this until I had Jesus living in me. It is His Love to us that reveals to us what we "can be" to others.

This is one reason why the church is losing it's power. The church is "individuals", not buildings or denominations and as more and more individuals succumb to the "easy way". Looking for comfort and what suits them, instead of "dying to self" as Jesus asked. It is only when we die to self, that His Love and Power can live through us.

Jesus first,
Others second,
Yourself last.

It is then that we can truly love all people.

love is a chemical high that boostes serotonin levels giving a feel good reaction. then followed by a surge of other like chemicals producing an infatuation with an certain person. next yu become adicted to that feeling and your mind becomes attached to the person cause the feel good feelings. love is really just an adiction but it feels good and i don't mind it but if i loved everyone then i wouldn't know the difference and could never enjoy all the fun

with no hate there is no love

Love is what fills that empty hole you didn't know was there, it's a breeze that blows past on a hot day, or that soft kiss and warm hug you pass out only to special people, the smell of home and the feeling of completeness.

Love does not gossip about another, does not act like you're working so you don't have to help the customer, does not rape, murder, molest, does not turn away family, does not covet your neighbor's wife, does not cheat, lie, steal, is not dishonest, does not judge a "book by its cover" and anything that hurts anyone. Love is unconditional even at the hardest times.

well Love is what God says it is...
1 Corinthians 13 really says it all, charity is translated as love.
It is not a feeling, it is an action.

Charity is the pure love of Christ. Selflessness is the foundation. Unconditional love like you have with your children is how you should love everyone..it is love unfeigned. It is not a question of...what have you done for me lately...it is not even ...what have you done? You should love people for who they are...not what is in it for you..You do things for people without a way for them to repay you and without wanting to be repaid. It simply comes from the goodness in your heart..
