You are correct that being able to honestly say that we love ourselves is very difficult. Yet, if we are to love others and love God, we need to look at the reason why we feel unworthy and begin to find the value within ourselves--which is sometimes a life-time process.
Many who have been abused and neglected as children have difficulty loving themselves. Others who have experienced failures or difficulties in life also question their self-worth.
Yet, to understand that we, and each living creature in the world around us, is valuable, precious, and worthy of respect, care, and compassion is the hardest journey and the biggest step sometimes to take. It is an essential one, though, to fully experience love in a relational, give and take experience.
Very good question!

When you are taught that you are inadequate, whether intentionally or not, it is extremely hard to have the confidence and self-appreciation to admit they love themselves, which they may or may not actually do.
I love myself. As a single girl with no children, I am my number one priority. Not admitting you love yourself is the same as hypocrisy.
Have a pleasant day.

If you don't love yourself...how can you love others? I do love myself..i think people are afraid to become self absorbed or conceited..there is a world of difference...the uneducated think it is a matter of being gay...you have to know who you are accept your flaws and try to be better every day...I am thankful to God for everything that he has given me and for all that I am.

They don't worship themselves as their own true god.
I don't always make the right decisions, but I still love myself.

I do love myself. No god sacraficed their life to die for me, or suffered for me. I do not owe god for my life - I thank my paretns. I do not thank god for my accomplishments - I feel proud and fulfilled, and when i err, I try to do better and accept responsibility.
I do love myself. Sans an imaginary god.
