WOW! I work about 10 minutes from there ( Armonk ) and worked in NYC for over 20 years. You'll like the convenience of being able to get into NYC by rail within 40 minutes and you'll also have a terrific mall 'The Westchester' if you want to shop locally. Not cheap but high quality shops! There are plenty of bars and restaurants all over and parking is not totally impossible, just plan ahead. There are many stores and shops throughout and it's all very safe and clean. Mamaroneck Avenue is like a mini 5th avenue and White Plains in general is like a mini Manhattan is several ways. You can get to Connecticut very quickly with the nearby highways. The Metro North system is very reliable so you don't have to worry about train service. One word of warning....Interstate 287 ( Cross Westchester Expressway) can get pretty crowded at rush hour so find some alternate routes after your are settled in. You be fine and happy!

You'll need a car. It's close enough to Manhattan to make the commute easy if you work here, but you'll still need the car to get around the area & probably to get to the trains.
