Who is paying for this car?
I would go for a VW Beetle.
If that is not an option - how
about a Porsche - any model would be very nice.
If money is no object - than whatever turns you on.

First off why limit yourself to the luxury brands when the less expensive brands can do the same. But out of the choices you have listed, I would have to go with either the Nissan Maxima or the Infiniti G35, which is made by Nissan. Also don't forget about Honda and Toyota who's reliability is just a little better than Nissan. Just a personal opinion. Oh and for all wheel drive there are the Subarus as well

After hours of searching, I was actually looking at an Altima, a Maxima, a Malibu and an X-Type when I went car shopping about 8 months ago. I got a used X-Type. I think they were all are good cars, but I went with the X-Type because of the "Jag Factor" (since it was the same price and miles as the Maxima and Altima and...well - the Malibu didn't impress me.)

The all-wheel drive makes it handles wonderfully in the snow, it's small but it's the kind of car that feels and looks bigger because of the Jag factor. It's DEFINATELY luxurious and inexpensive. As far as practical - I get 20-21 mpg...so not all that practical there compared to my old car (Hyundai Elentra GT - 28-29 mpg). Being that it's a Jag, it's definately unique and turns heads. I've had it now for 8 months and not a single problem - (I've put 5,000 miles on it - it's now at 29,000 miles.)

I've got a 2005 Nissan Maxima, and I highly recommend it. Good gas mileage (28 - 30 highway), very good performance and handling, and the front wheel drive does well in the snow. I live in hilly, snowy terrain, and it has done well. It's as luxurious as cars costing 10 grand more. Drive one, I think you'll be impressed.

How about the Subaru WRX? It's around 25g's, sporty, 225 hp, and all wheel drive. And if you have the extra $$$, you can make it really fast with aftermarket upgrades.

Check the Subaru Impreza, don't know about gas mileage, though. I personally love BMW's.

you're heavily limiting your self by staying below 2 years old... My 1972 Plymouth Duster is in rattling good structure and it became in straight forward words 7,500. that could go away you 12,500 money to spend construct up the engine, new paint, custom audio, inspite of you want! using round in a vehicle like it really is like being in a parade, thumbs up, chicks staring... you'll ought to work out it to believe it. 20,000 off tops would by you a muscle vehicle of your determination in impressive situation. properly, except for the uncommon classics, like an R/T Challenger or something loopy like that.
