Both cigarettes and marijuana can both cause death. If you smoke one joint of marijuana you inhale more cancerous material than a whole pack of cigarettes. Now it is true that most people tend to smoke less weed than cigarettes, but a joint/blunt/pipe/bong is also cancerous. Marijuana also has many other side effects, and although it may not be more dangerous than alcohol it still is not healthy. The main reason I won't smoke weed is because it can give you schizophrenia, and I'd really rather not have that, but I'm sure you are a smoker, and smoke up we all die some day.

Undoubtedly, both are harmfull for human body. But, the criteria for legality or illegalatity of taking a certain substance is dependent to several factors. 1. whether it bear hazards for brain, means site of sound thinking or not. Another reason is addressed to harm for all the society again from this viewpoint that if that substance affects mass or publics in so bad manner that exits them from norms. Now by comparing tobboco and marijuana it reveals that the former damages physically and the latter both physically and mentally a man. For more information, marijuana after at least 5 years consumption produceds numerous tiny bores within the brain like a sieve and in many instances leading to an organic and permanent madness without any present treatment. Now you, as a legislator, law making or etc would judge about this difference.

People can die from smoking marijuana but with that aside the reason is that tobacco(what cigarettes are made out of) helped this nation begin it's economy in its early days. The tobacco was sold and the economy in colonial america was stimulated because of this. Due to this, our nation, america, is passionate about tobacco because it basically saved it in the early days.
You might want to do more research into marijuana, especially if you smoke it because it can kill you because dealers will add other stuff to their marijuana to make it look like more so instead of a pound of the drug they have two pounds.

there are two reason to this;
1. Tobaco companies fund campaignes for politicians under the contigency that those politicians won't ban cigarettes. They say, "Here is a 50,000 to get elected with, and we will ote for you too, as long as you don't ban cigarettes." and inthis day in age, if the politician went back and did pass a piece of legislation to try and ban cigarettes, they sign a contract and they'd get sued for million of dollars. It doesn't matter if it's deadly, there's money involved.
2. When local law enforcement siezes a large amount of drugs, marijuana or otherwise, they hand it to the feds to sell back to poor countries, so that the countries can sell it to private American hands, and then we sieze it again and make lots of profit. If it were legal, we wouldn't be making all of that side money. It's not about what's better for America, it's about the money involved.

Man, you know this one... because the government makes more money with it being illegal. Otherwise, everyone would grow. Wanna hear a crazy truth? There'd be less crime in the world if it were legal. Think about it... how many people do you see try to kill themselves or others while smoking dope? Not too many. The world would be a happier place, but Uncle Sam wouldn't get his cut... hence, no peace for the rest of us (but then again, we're at war anyway, so what does it matter?)...

Actually marijuana can kill. Not directly like cigarettes, but it has caused deaths with the fact it impairs people. But, because it is a drug of sorts, the government won't allow it to be legal. Sadly, there are many people that can benefit from its sources and how it helps with medical issues, but I guess the government thinks that a 50 year old would rather be getting high instead of getting better from his illness.

Marijuana is made of different substances/chemicals than cigarettes. Most people don't smoke pot like they do cigarettes. It's illegal because that's how the government makes money.

Most people that smoke marijuana also smoke tabacco, so if that person gets cancer and dies, its not easy to say that just tabacco killed that person. Its not what its smoke that causes cancer, although tabacco has its chemicals., Its the smoke inhaled into your body that causes cancer. When you smoke marijuana, u also inhale smoke. So marijuana can kill people. Other than that, Marijuana its illegal because it has a more obvious mental effect on people, and tabacco lobbyst do a very good job in washington.
