If a book is the word of God shouldn't it be perfect and right for all time?

Galatians 1:6-9

6I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel— 7which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. 8But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned! 9As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let him be eternally condemned!

This relates to a question that I asked a while ago, if you look at the answer you will understand what I mean, I believe so anyway. You have to click the next link to get to the original question.

Seems to me if women simply knew their place as God intended this debate would be mute. Certainly this calls for a revival of teaching the true Word of God to bring things back into line with His command....... women should not sin this way and all of them will be smoted down for these transgressions or my name isn't Christian philosopher, Ohn Thuy Long

Thank you Ms Truthz and I can't wait to see what you have made me for dinner in the kitchen..'n I hope you got the laundry done cause I need a fresh shirt for Sunday services whilst you are cooking...mmm mmm that turkey smells like it was cooked by an angel from heaven...let anyone be eternally condemned if they don't smell that heaven is cookin' up somethin' good for ya....peeeewww wheeeee!

well We try to take those scriptures in their context and when we have something that we don't understand we use different translations as well as going back to the original greek and hebrew. With that said, we do not allow women to take authority over men in the church. We see that there were women prophets, and deacons in the church and knowing what their duties are we balance that with the other scriptures. We take it to mean that they should be in charge of ministering to the women in the church and that their authority does not extend to the men, although the men should take into account what God reveals through a woman prophet. A woman could not be a Apostle or Pastor as that requires they take direct authority over men. Suggesting, or asking is not ordering.
So anyway I do believe that I or our church does take a biblical stand on those scriptures. feel free to e-mail if you want to disagree..

The Old Testament is written in a different style. Man's anger at God is reflected and represented by God's anger.

You have to go back to your original assumption that the Bible is perfect. Fundamentalist Christians contend that the Bible is inerrant and comprehensive to faith. However, mainstream religions, Catholic and Protestant, believe it is inerrant in concepts only, and is not comprehensive.

The dilema you face of choosing scripture only occurs with the Fundamentalist approach. The rest of us have no problem using the Bible to augment our faith, not fully define our faith.
