"King" is not a German or Swiss surname.
If you are sure about your ancestors coming from this area, either "King" might be the meaning translated of "Kö***" or an easier way of writing the Swiss "Küng" which is quite a wide-spread name here.
Probably you'd have to find out more about your ancestors living in the US (?) to get an idea where to get further.

It's possible that their name was Kö***, and that when they came to this country they changed it to King, to better fit in with the new culture.
If you are interested in the genealogy of the name King, message me and I can put you in touch with someone who has that name in his family and has researched it extensively.
