You could author your own DVD using these video files. If they're AVI, DivX or Xvid I recommend you use AVI2Dvd.

Nero is also pretty good at encoding mpg files to VCD format that'll play on most DVD players. Just choose Other CD Formats and then Video CD in the Nero wizard.

If you need a good video converter, try SUPER. It can convert between any video format.

simple answers, but i'm guessing not as complete as the asker needed.
so here goes.
1, get a DVDburner installed in your PC
(you can get a DVD burner from all good online and retail PC hardware suppliers, personally though i get my hardware from www.dabs.com)
2, install DVD burning software. if the drive you buy does not come with DVD burning software, the the simplist program i've used is from www.nero.com a free trial is available for nero the full program is not a lot of money though. another program you can try if you need to edit in chapters and jumpo to points is microsft built in movie studio i forget the exact name. or you can try movieshop from mindscape.
you also need to get the right size media for your final edit. something you may need to get is www.divx.com for there creation tool, this is a utility for compressing movie files into a smaller format with little or no loss in video quality.

simply read the instructions with the software you finaly choose and once done your films will be on DVD. you may like to consider a DVD burner with Lightscribe or other label burning capability. as you can burn a label saying what the DVD is by turning the recorded DVD over use the tools available in nero at least to then design and print (burn) the label direct to the DVD.
so 1st burn = movie, then eject and turn the disk the other side up and insert the disk back into the burner now once the label is designed hit the print or burn i forget what it is actualy as i've not used it for ages, wait and in a few minutes your disk will be complete, you can while you wait design the DVD sleeve and print that (if you have the right paper for your printer) to your standerd document printer.

The burning software I like the most is Ashampoo Burning. It's 100% free and can be downloaded here: http://bitly.com/1lAVuA9

A burning software is a tool that you need to create new CDs and DVDs. To make them working properly you need to burn them with a good software. Ashampoo is a very modern and reliable software that I recommend. It has plenty of other functions (e.g. you can edit videos and create DVD menus)

first of all you need to have the correct software, then you need to know the process, which includes: first you put the dvd in your pc, then you open up the software( comes with a dvd decrypter, dvd shrink) you first decrrypt the dvd onto your hard drive. then you open up the dvd shrink, and you shrink the dvd files. after you shrink the files, you can then put in a blank dvd-r or dvd rw(these are the only ones that will allow for playback on dvd players) after you put in the blank disc, your ready to burn, using the dvd burning software. make sure it completes all processes before opening the disk tray, as this will mess up the disk and youw ill not be able to burn anymore on that blank disc

movie files, data files, music files, picture files, word files, etc etc they are no different because they are music files as opposed to word files, its all data the difference is the formats of each file type.
cut the movies like any other data.
