it depends on what color it was before...you need to specify. if it was blonde, it could just be age getting to you. if it was brown, you may be spending a lot of time in the sun. it bleaches your hair.

Are you naturally dark-brown? Or, do you color your hair?
* If you're naturally dark-haired and your hair is lightening...
It just because of the Summer time and being exposed to more sun than when you are during the rest of the year. Hair tends to lighten by 1 to 3 shades of the same natural color when exposed to sun for long periods of time, but it will come back to its normal dark shade as soon as the Summer will be ending. My hair does the same thing in this time of the year. So, there's nothing to worry about.
* If you color your hair quite often and when you're done it starts to go to the lighter shades of your natural color...
It might mean of the two things: either the hair-color that you used is a little bit too strong for you, or it might have had bleach in its mix. When the bleach gets into the hair, it tends to have the same effect on the hair as the sun but only in another way, and unfortunatelly it can ruin the hair from the root to the tip. Just be careful with the way-too-often-hair-coloring experimenting, you can unitentionally ruin your hair... then to restore you'll have to shave it all off and let it grow back :)
In either case just find a right shampoo for your hair-color (for blondes, runettes or red-heads) with the matching conditioner. What this will do is that it'll help you keep your natural color without letting it to fade away in any heat and in the same time protect it from the hot-dry air and give your hair the vitamin-nourishment (i.e.: Vitamins A, B, C, E, etc.) it so needs in this time of the year. I'm doing it too (shampoo and conditioner for blondes), and my hair looks great without the dreaded bleached after-effect from the sun. If you're coloring your hair, they might even have a speciallized shampoo and the conditioner that will allow you to have the color for longer periods of time without it fading out on you :)
I hope it helped :)
Best of luck and take care :)

The sun. In the summer my hair goes from strawberry blonde to a champagne color in about 2 weeks. It's natural.

Lol. I know this not seem much but it's the sun that keeps your hair turning lighter colors. If you don't like that try using hair dye to get your hair color back to it's orginal shade

if it is darker than the color its turning, the sun naturally lightens your hair. Thats why as a stylist when I do a color I recommend the client wear a sunscreen made for your hair and a hat when they are outside in the sun.

It depends. What color was your hair before? if it was darker, it could be the sun, chlorine in your water, or chemicals you use in your hair. If it was lighter, it could just be the fact that it turns darker over time. (My hair did this).
