By the way sorry for any spelling error it was the only way to put the whole sentence in. In another light so many places and people that ive seen and heard smash on gays and lesbians for what they are, thats why gays and lesbians live a life of pride for themselves because the Straight generation bashes on them so much. Either way you guys leave what you like, be as open as you want ,this is what make this world a free country it brings me joy to know how you feel.

On a personal level, everyone has the liberty to treat everyone else as they see fit within the confines of the law. I'm not saying that I think that it's right to treat any other human like dirt, I'm just answering your question here.
As to equality under the law, gay and lesbian people have the same rights as anyone else. You may ask "If that's true, then what about gay marriage", to which I would respond that just because a gay person doesn't want to marry someone of the opposite sex doesn't mean that they have less rights than someone who does. It's just that the current laws don't conform to their personal desires.
I often have the desire to drive my car far in excess of the speed limit when it seems perfectly safe to me given the light traffic conditions but I don't have the legal right to do so. That doesn't mean that I have less rights than someone who is perfectly content with driving at the speed limit.

The truth, America and Americans are not ready for change. It is too hard to change the minds of others in the world, because they will but religion in with it. To except that LGBT people are out and proud is a strange thing. For century's lesbian and gay people were to either stay in hiding or they would be persecuted. But being treated like dirt is not a problem when you find the right people to help support you. No matter what in life there will also be someone to treat you like ****,but as long as you realize that it's not you're fault ...you will be fine and make it though the bigots.

They don't. How do you suppose the homosexual community would respond if someone held a Straight Pride Parade? Probably the same way they responded to my vehicle when it got caught in their gay rights demonstration - 1 smashed windshield, 1 smashed rear window, 1 kicked in door, and 1 kicked in fender. Why? Because they were angry at a politician and my vehicle happened to be there.
Incidentally, there was no justice. I paid for the repairs out of my pocket. There is a difference between getting treated like dirt and people resisting militant attempts to have ideas forced upon them.

That phrase is a hope and an ideal, not a statement of fact. The GLBT community is the latest one to start complaining about it. Ask a woman before 1920's, an Irishman in the 1880's, a ***** before the 1970's or a deaf person today if there is liberty and justice for all. Nope. They have to fight for it. In the two-story outhouse of life, they are on the ground floor.
At least being Irish or a woman or a ***** wasn't a crime; it was a crime to be a homosexual for a long time in the USA. It still is, in some states. (Or at least sodomy is. One definition of sodomy includes oral sex, which means 90% of us heteros should turn ourselves in.)

First of all, there isn't "liberty and justice for all". That is the first BIG LIE. Gay and Lesbian people get treated like dirt just like many other groups get treated like dirt. They are considered by the dominant group as second- or third-class citizens. There is one main dominant group that believes in its own supremacy == rich white heterosexual adult males, and if you are not a member of this group, you can be considered a bit lower on the socio-economic scale, all the way down to "scum of the earth == welfare mom". Just because it's true doesn't make it right!

Why?? ... because some people still believe that homosexuality is a choice, and it's NOT! Some people are born with a cruel streak and lack understanding. I believe that what you do in the privacy of your home is your business (as long as it doesn't hurt anyone). The statement "everyone is considered equal in the eyes of the law".... should read "some are equal, others are not as equal". I hope I live to see the day when everyone is treated equal. It's ironic -- if we can't find peace, understanding and tolerance inside ourselves...how can we ever expect to have peace in the world. Good Luck. Stand Proud!

Liberty and Justice are wonderful catch words that ring hollow in America, as does "Judge not lest ye be judged" rings hollow in the minds of the Fundamentalist Christians inhabiting this site. The Fundamentalists you see here are, in reality, not very Christian, certainly are not very holy. In fact, their words ring evil in any sane person's ears...foolish, silly little people who have not ONE single thought of their own. You will find that, as a nation, Gays do not get treated like dirt under the pavement. Smart Gays leave small nothing bergs to those with small nothing minds. We move to cities where we prosper greatly. Our prospering certainly makes those silly little people who do all the screaming more than just jealous. We have more than they will ever see in a lifetime. Good luck

There is...but you don't see heterosexual adults going around protesting their bedroom habits. Waiving signs that say I am heterosexual, and having marches... What heterosexual adults do in the bedroom, stays there and does not dictate who they are as people. Gay, Lesbian, Bi-sexual, & Heterosexual is just a name for a person with a specific sexual preference. If someone chooses to act different in public from the majority, they should be prepared to be differently by others. I'm sure you would not find someone walking down the street rubbing their stomach, patting their heads and talking to themselves as normal, because it is not what the majority of people do in public. As such, you would treat them different. I don't feel that someone should be treated poorly, but it depends on your definition of dirt. Does that mean different from the status quo? If so, I don't agree. I would treat a heterosexual being overtly affectionate in public different too. I find it rude. As do a lot of people.

I'm sorry, I was under the impression this was the genealogy board. "We demand special treatment because we talk openly about our sexuality" topics are usually held on more appropriate boards where kids aren't as likely to stumble on them.
Most people don't talk about their sexuality at work, or with strangers, so why should the topic be appropriate "wherever/whenever"? Maybe the reason some people don't get any respect is that they don't give any...like the respect of talking about things in the right place and with the right people.

People fear what the don't know or understand. They hide behind faith or ignorance. For some reason, it's okay to treat people badly and be "Christian"... I don't understand that one.. Minorities have always been treated badly in every culture... Women used to be treated the same way and in some cultures still are....
I don't believe I deserve "special" treatment, I just deserve to be treated fairly and equally... doubly hard as a lesbian and a woman... it's even worse for those glbt of color....
