Most anyone. When you apply for a credit card, they don't ask you your salary, they check your credit history and sometimes like to know your income. A disability benefit is an income.

If you're having trouble there are some ways you can help yourself. If you have no credit cards, loans, any debt whatsoever, then believe it or not you have bad credit history. No credit history is bad as far as they are concerned. They would much rather you owed £10,000 than nothing at all.

You need to be a registered voter at your address, believe it or not that helps,, then you can apply for a credit card from with a ridculously high APR. They are everywhere. I get them in the post. Get it, just don't use it. Then you can begin your credit history. Try not to go down the credit card slope though. Once you start it's almost impossible to stop.

Get a pre paid credit card, you put money on these then spend it by using it as a credit card but you can only use the money you have on it.
Any company that would give you a credit card will charge an extremely high rate of interest much more than those in work would have to pay, why not just use a debit card and direct debits it's so much cheaper

Alot of it depends on how good (or bad) your credit history is.

Some companys like AMEX have a minimum earning amount (I think it's 15 grand/year)

But, places like Orchard Bank, Bank of America, HSBC, Capital One-(ick), Walmart, Target will give people on SSDI cards - again, depending on your credit.

Orchard, BoA and HSBC have a selector that you can do to see if you qualify. They do not pull hard pulls if you use the selector, they will only pull a hard inquiry if you actually apply for a card.

Keep in mind that even if the selector says you may be approved for a card when you apply, you may still be denied when you apply.

If you don't have much history, or some bad history, you may want to think about getting a secured card. I know BoA usually unsecures, depending on how good you are with the card, around 9 to 12 months.

in case you used the cardboard and made purchases, they don't care in spite of in case you have a central authority examine to pay it off or a primary activity for earnings. It depends on your credit rating and credit history, but its not a good idea. You're better off finding an understanding bank who will give you a debit card, that way, it won't cost you a fortune in interest if you can't pay your whole balance off and you can still use it for things over the net if you can't get out.
