You would have to eat huge amounts of chocolate in order to experience the effects of any potentially addictive chemicals in chocolate. It is far more realistic to blame the so-called addiction on the unique and superb taste, flavor and mouthfeel which comes with eating chocolate.

To the best of my knowledge, chocolate does not have any compounds that cause physical addiction, so my guess would be no. A web search using "chocolate addiction" turns up some interesting papers, but since it's for a school project I'll let you do your own research while I go eat some chocolate :-)

Studies on humans and animals have shown that chocolate can cause reward-type changes in brain activity, same changes that can be caused, among other stimuli, by narcotics. So the answer is: yes, its possible to become psychologically addicted to chocolate.
