I would like help from people with experience, as in what worked for them. A few weeks ago I picked at my face. To make a long story short a blackhead left a hole (like a big open pore), now although its closed up I am left with a flat scar. Sort of looks like a small pock mark. What can I use non-perscription that will get rid of this scar.
Thanks!

Salicylic acid, an ingredient to be found in many acne treatments, is also a strong exfoliant that helps to rejuvenate skin cells below the epidermis. Try the neutrogena acne treatment with citrus acid and vitamins A and C that comes in a small pump bottle. If the scar is not recessed, this will probably do the trick. You might also have luck with fade cream--Proactiv sells it in small fancy bottles for the purpose of fading this kind of acne scar, but their active ingredient is the same as that of the good old fashioned tubs of Pond's (or store brand) fade cream. (The Proactiv stuff is in a silker, probably less pore clogging medium, however.)

If neither of these works, you might want to try a higher concentration of salicylic acid. Most acne treatments contain only 1 to 2 %, whereas it's possible to get treatments (online) of up to 17% salicylic acid. (They will burn your skin, but once it peels away the tone will be even; aloe helps if you get burnt, but you might want to go with something that won't have such a dramatic interim effect.)

Whatever you decide, be sure to use sunscreen when you're outside in the coming months; the scarred area will not tan, and the skin around it will, making the scar's appearance more prominent. Also, just fyi, flat scars tend to go away on their own relatively quickly so don't despair--a little bit of foundation might be your main ally here!

Good luck!

Use some vitamin E oil on it. It will not go away completely but it will fade it.
