I have really bad hair....it's very curly, but not kinky curly, and it's just extremely nappy! I cannot go to the beach, not even near the beach with out it frizzing. Even lately, since we've been having hot and humid days, it gets frizzy, and more so towards the evening. I hate my hair with a passion. Is there something I can do with out paying way too much money...something I can buy and do at home? Please help me.

yeah, I was gonna say your avatar doesn't look nappy! lol that's okay though!
I'm assuming your African American or mixed?? If so (well I guess it really doesn't matter), my suggestion is wear braids during the summer months - you can braid your hair yourself by sectioning your hair into 1" squares and single braiding - holding the end with a rubber band (the kind that doesn't break your hair off - 99 cents @ Wal-Mart or Target) - easy as pie and totally without the cost!!!! Plus you can keep it in for 2-3 weeks, take it down for a day (the curls are gorgeous) or two and then put it back up!
For other months: get a flat iron - when you flat iron your hair - you don't have to use "grease" use a moisturizer or a light oil. My daughter (mixed) uses Pink Lotion (brand) and it's not expensive. I just tried a new product - Oganic Root Stimulator / Olive Oil - very light and a nice smell. I found it at Target.
Don't hate your hair, you gotta work with what you got!

There are some really great products on the market today for this problem. I suggest you shop around, and find one that suits your particular situation. And another thing: it has become very popular to wash hair daily. Some people do not need this: they have dry hair, and too much washing with strong shampoos can strip out the natural oils in the hair. If you do have dry hair, try washing it every other day, or even less, and see how that goes. Obviously wash it when needed, but not every day if dry. And there are also products that can be applied after shampooing. Go to the store and check it out! Good luck: I grew up with the same problem [frizzing when beaching] and they didn't have the great stuff available today to handle it...lucky you!

First off use a light conditioner, I use the cheap Suave because its really light and it doesn't leave your hair greasy. Also buy a good straightener, I bought mine for $40 at Sally's Wal-Mart also has some good ones, make sure to get a fat straightener, the skinny ones do not work on thick hair. Don't use any grease or any product on your hair. Your hair grows no matter what, split ends don't affect how hair grows either, your hair grows from the scalp not the bottom of the hair.

First of all LOVE the skin you are in! You can purchase ceramic curling and flat irons at most retailers these days. You must be careful when using this product. It can still damage your hair if used too much. When using ceramic you should use an "ion" shield. Its like a conditioning treatment before you curl or flat iron your hair. Consider style that compliment your beautiful curly "nappy" hair. Lots of Love......

I know how you feel ....I have naturally frizzy hair myself. Believe it or not the best thing for your hair is to color it! You can color it to your natural hair color if you don't want to change the color. There is also shampoo and conditioner by Christophe. The only place that I have been able to find it is in CVS. The stuff costs about $8.00 a bottle but they have different kinds for different hair types. It is way better than Pantene. It leaves your hair silky and smooth. Good Luck.

You could try using Frizz-Ease, by John Frieda. I think it cost around $5, and you can find it at Wal Mart, K Mart, and Target. I think that if you use it everyday as directed, it will help to tame the frizzies that you get. You could also try Fructis Frizz Ease shampoo and conditioner. Again, you can find it at Wal Mart, K Mart, and Targer, and cost around $3 for each shampoo and conditioner!!
