Why are kids not taught to be fully independant... ie the only way to protect a daughter should be to teach her how to fight from say age 4 so by the time she is in high school she can take out any threat and protect class mates, likewise experiense in swimming, fieldcraft, first aid etc...

Thats real protection. Likewise putting a teenager on the pill from when first interested in guys and other pre -emptive action...

it seems the intention is not to protect but control.

Kids should be taught with the intention of them travelling the world age 18 and being able to handle themselves and spot trouble alone.

That means starting early

Geet if you look at the Dutch and other european countries =where they are fully open, teach everything, the culture has an open attiude to consentual sexual activity and they expect teenagers to become sexual.

The kids wait till and average age of 17.5 themselves and the age of concent there is 14 but staggered (this means the older one has to be under a certain age ie another teenager).

So that put girl on the pill wont encourage her to go with somone she does not fancy. It means things happen nautrally but when they do its wihtout the problems... they still use condoms as the backup and have a lot less psyche problems

There are ways a small kid can fight an adult but this would have to be taught carefully so never used in a playground as you would be teaching the kid how to kill and extreamly violentsly having been very deceptive before hand...

The trick there would be to teach the kid to disregard every moral rule taught for nornmal life, know when ond only when to do it, and to be capable of doing it without hesitation or mercy...

Whilst still remaining a normal kid and thats hard.

We do this!
My hubby has taught them Aikido (self defense moves to get away).
They can swim, and we teach them life skills and survival skills.

I agree that more parents need to step up and truly educate their children by giving them the necessary skills.
:)

Uhhh, that's an easy one. it's because parents these days don't have to gruel and toil on the farms and fields like the good ole days with the kids alongside bucking up right alondside the big folks. Plus, the liberal/Dr.Sears/pu$$y assed parenting movement has spawned a new genetartion where you parents don't really have any say, The government does. MY advice to you, as a person with no kids, would be to run out to your nearest bookstore and grab a Dr, Sears manual and follow it to the tee so you don't get accused of child abuse for giving your kid the *** whoopings he oe she so richly deserves that in turn, will "toughen them up". My *** was whooped, and I'm doing good. Making good money and living a comfortable life. I ain't no flaming punk, either. These next generation kids will be though.

Ok...
I agree with putting a teenage girl on the pill, allthough some may argue that it may lead the girl to have sex before she may have without the pills protection, becasue the idea has already been put into her head... it kind of sends the message that it is ok to have sex...
I also understand why you would want to teach your child to defend themselves...BUT in this day and age it is not always wise. Here is a story for an example...I am a girl and my Dad taught me how to fight for the same reasons you gave....he also taught me not to take any sh!t and defend my self...so in high school a girl was harrassing me to no end and I just couldnt take it anymore so I eventually popped her one in the nose... and guess what? I got arrested and sued....
So that is why fighting is not always the best policy adn for real this girl was making my life hell and she deserved it....
Also when you teach a kid to fight (liek a 4 yr old as you mentioned) they are not mature enough to distinguish when it is appropriate to defend themselves and they may fight in school, which willlead to all sorts of problems

What's properly? Kids don't come with an instruction manual. Not all kids can do aggression. Parents can only try to do their best.

Good parents start young. With education, reading, writing, etc. Then they move onto confidence and courage, support for dreams and desires, how to deal with disappointment. You explain things as they arise, this is good parenting, otherwise you over load them and merely make them scared all the time. If you do your job correctly, they move out on their own when done school because it is the next logical step in their life. Yes, there is control involved, but one must also learn self control and the ability to control others when the need arises.

Being able to fight isn't much help to a small child if they are in danger from a large adult. I'll agree that learning skills is a good thing, but they need to learn about how to avoid dangers as well as to confront them.

Fighting or protecting yourself is very important but there is a time and a place for that. Just look at drunkredneck. He can't even spell. You think you can teach someone like that fighting?

because as we go through the generations the problems seem to get worse but with a little understanding from both parties and learning from our peers before we can try and get it right.as with protection we can over do it or not, because of the world today as parents we tend to protect more than we did , its sometimes a fine line but as i said before with understanding and communication it can be as easy or as hard as you make it
