In a fallen world (which this is) free will is almost equated with sin - you can't eradicate sin and still have free will.

Hello,
God gave us the greatest gift free will, which we have to choose what path to take. It might not be the right one but he gave us that choice.
Human sins whether we like it or not, some far greater than others. I don't think God could eradicate Sin, because All human lead a sinful life whether good or bad. Free will is about decideing for oneself on what path to take.
For example some one choose to rob a bank instead of getting a degree to get a job. It was that person decidion and he has to pay the price for what he did.
I truly hope that i have helped you
Take care and God bless

Yes he could but do you honestly think you could learn better without your mistakes? Experience (they say) is the best teacher, free will gives you the chance of experiencing not only right and wrong but good and bad as well , good intentions some times turn out to be mistakes that can be forgiven and you learn by them. Evil intentions are made for the pure thought of taking something from some one else, God let's you be you but just remember there is always a price to pay for evil. However the cost of making a mistake was already paid for by Jesus so all that's left is forgivness.

Greetings,
Think about the authority of God. If he created all things and said he wrote the book of life before the foundation of the world, then there can be no free will.
Romans 8 tells us he did foreknow, predestine, and conform all those that believe. In John we find out that he is the good Shepard and his sheep hear his voice.
He makes one vessel unto glory and another unto destruction. We cannot per sieve who is in which camp but all were born to one or the other.
Sin in itself was invented by God through his servant Satan, Satan was created to serve and the implementor of evil to fulfill the plan of God. Even Satan has no free will, it seems so to him but he cannot avoid what he does because God created his demeanor and when God wants Satan to act a certain way he just puts the circumstance there and he does what must be done.
We are the same, free will seems to exist to us because we are limited in our understanding of Gods plan. But all things work together for good for those who love God and are called according to his purpose.
Sin in the same way was invented to bring us to repentance, without sin forgiveness would not exist and the relationship between God and man would not have so much flavor but would be like dry toast.
In the end there is no right no wrong and no indifference, just spiritual growth for those "who's name is written in the Lambs book of life from the foundation of the world".
Great question
Peace and understanding to you,
Bondservant

It's not so much that Christianity allows it, but God that has gifted it.
God has already spiritually separated those who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ from their sin and by the atoning sacrifice of Jesus. It was a free will choice that we all make, the choice to trust in Jesus sacrifice or not. If we do not, then our sin condemns us. That condemnation from God being postponed (because of Jesus sacrifice) till the day of judgement.
Eradicating sin in our lives is not God's job. He has charged us with that responsibility. We however can't do it by our own efforts, we need His help. That help is Jesus.

Because that wouldn't give you a choice. If there were no sin, how can He know who is loyal to Him or not? If He made us where we only did good things, then that really wouldn't be free will. Some people choose to sin. And some people choose to obey.

Revise your definition of free will. What it means is that we choose to do what we do of our own free will. To sin is to perform an action that is against the law of God. God sets the rules and then gives us the free will to choose to follow them or not.

Temptation to sin... great invention in half of the free will concept... it is a test. He wants to see which of his puppets will float and which will sink.
And if he creates the path we are to follow (before we were ever born) and then leads us down it... hasn't he in fact, predicted already who will sin and who will not? Has he not in fact, already doomed a good portion of us to disobey? Seems rather cruel if you ask me... but once again this is the Great, Infallible, All-Seeing, Almighty "God".

God gave mankind free will. He also pointed out the consequences of misusing it. He also came to earth as Man and died for you. He also sent you His Spirit, to live with you and to guide you.
Gee, whiz, you want Him to hold the bottle for you, while you drink your milk, too?
