Hello,
It all depends on what you are into. Some people prefer European Languages, some prefer Indian Languages, some prefer Oriental Languages and the other prefer African Languages. It so depends on what path you want to make in life and stuff.
From my opion i wouldn't say that i have a best Language because, i speak more than eight Languages and all languages have some thing different to offer. For instance when i was learning Mandarin everybody i knew said it was hard, but take the Tones out, it isn't hard as how its being mde out and also to unravel that, it also has its own hidden charms.
If you are talking about the current hardest Language for an English Speaker, would be some Oriental Language like Mandarin.
While some Asians. might disagree with you. They'll probably say English is one of the hardest because of how many words people have to remember.
It also depends on your profession the popular ones are currently Mandarin Chinese and German.
You have alot to take your pick from. If you live in America it would be good to learn Spanish as well
With what you decided take care and good luck

I can't say which language is the best. It's entirely subjective. I can say which languages 'I' like the best however. I think English is a great language and it's my first, so that's convenient right? I speak French as well, and I think it's a very pretty and sexy language. The most sexy hands down. I also wouldn't mind learning to speak Russian, but I know the writing system would be difficult to catch on to. I have no idea why I'm not interested in any of the other romance languages aside from French, like Spanish, Italian and Portugaise (I forget how to spell the last one in English). The only language I find overwhelmingly hard on the ears is Chinese. And it seems that people who speak it talk much louder than people who speak other languages. I'm sorry! This is obviously a personal preference, but I really can't imagine Chinese poetry or a Chinese love song... good lord, it just doesn't sound good.

This is difficult to answer because languages are comprised of different sounds and corresponding symbols that are basically incomparable to each other. No one language is better than another by function. All have rules that are governed by it's speakers. Judging people on the way they speak or how it sounds to you is subjective and purely a social side of language. No one language can express an idea better than another. The speaker may be more comfortable with a particular language, but again that is subjective. If you are talking about which language is most widely used then that would be different then which language is best.
