Good day everyone !!

A few people told me that if you worked in the USA for a number a year legally you can apply for a green card. If your from England you cannot apply for the green card lottery. I have been working for 6 seasons on H2B visa in theme park and the total work is about 4.5 years. The time is not consecutive, and each time I went back to England for new visa legally. So people say since I worked so long and pay tax and have social security card. Does this mean i can apply, if so how and any advice? thanks so much!!

It is not a heartless country-if you do things right. If you have done what you say-it looks very very good.
Contact-Legal Aid--one in every county (call your government center-if you have trouble finding it), They will help you and tell you what you need to do. Paperwork is tiresome-but worth it.

It sure sounds to me like you have been upstanding and done everything right and so I would hope that you can apply now and should have no problem. I would say you are the type of person people of the USA want as a citizen, if you have not committed any crimes more serious than for instance a driving infraction or jaywalking. Why don't you call Immigration and/or go to their website and look into how to apply for citizenship. I'm sure people will be most helpful in guiding your way. It shouldn't be something you need a lawyer for, if there are no special circumstances or hurdles in your case. Good luck!

The best way to get an answer for your question is to contact 1800-375-5283. That is the number for USCIS. I know that they best way to get a green card, is through a family member, or employer. There are exceptions to the rule, however I dont think following the law is one of them. I am almost certain that the answer to that question is false. Unfortunately alot of people is following the laws and renewing their visas and working within the laws of their non immigrant visa, however this does not give them other previlages. I hope I was helpful.

Look up the address to your local INS office. They are very helpful in giving you the exact information you need and any paperwork you will need to fill out. Along with a full list of requirements (photos, fees, documents you will need to aquire or bring with you)

As long as you have and are doing everything legally, they will usually treat you with the utmost respect and do what they can to make everything easier for you. Good luck.

P.S. I spent several months in the U.K. Lovely country, my husband is from Scotland.

For those who aren’t familiar with it, there is an existing contract-labor program in the United States. It’s called the H2A program. It uses approximately 50,000 to 60,000 contract laborers, predominantly in agriculture. The McCain-Kennedy bill would expand that to half a million workers a year, and perhaps more.

I call it a contract-labor program, because that’s what it is. They like to call it by a benign name--a guest-worker program. As if workers are truly guests in the American house, when we know that the contract workers are treated as less than second-class citizens, and certainly not as guests.

Si Se Puede!
