The priory of Sion is a real group. Whether the protrayal of it in the Davinci Code is correct or not, I do not know. I don't believe that they hold the keys to the gospel of Christ though.

I do however believe that Mary and Jesus were Married. I believe that we are comanded to be Married- Christ was baptized- not because he needed it, but because it was a comandment- why then would he not follow all of the comandments. There are several places in the bible that could be evidence that they were Mary-
1- When Jesus was resurected- the first person he appeared to was Mary Magdelene- she was also the one who was caring for him.
2- there is an account of Jesus being at the home of Mary and Martha- Martha gets quite upset because Mary is spending her time listening to Jesus teach and not helping her prepare the Dinner. Jesus tells Martha that Mary is where she needs to be. If she was his wife, we know that he traveled a lot- it makes sense that Mary would spend as much time as she could with him.
3- When Jesus heard that Lazurus had died- it says that he wept. He must have been very close to Lazurus if he cried. And as soon as Mary heard that Jesus was there, she did not wait for him she ran to meet him, while Martha stayed back.
4- The whole water into wine thing- Mary (the Mother) was worried about wine being at the wedding. In Jewish tradition it is the responsibility of the groom to provide the wine. Now this certainly could have been the wedding of a close friend or family member- but it makes sense that it was his wedding.

These are just a few of the things that point to proof that they were married. These do not mean that they were married- but they sure do point to that fact in my mind. There is no proof that they weren't married either. I don't believe that there is a bloodline. Because of the divine nature of Christ- that nature would have been passed through the generations and could be used the wrong way if they were not taught correct principles.

This is all my personal belief and not a teching of my religion or any toher religion I know of- but I believe that there is evidence that they were married.

Dear Kristo,

People are deceived into believing alot of things, particularly religius things. For example, many of us have been taught that 3 Kings visited Mary and Joseph in the manger the night Christ was born. First, there were not 3 Kings but a very large group of wise men from the east, and they brought 3 gifts to the Lord-gold, frankencense and myrrh. This group of wise men from the east did not arrive on the night the Lord Jesus was born but about 3 years later! That is why King Herod commanded that all the children 3 years old and younger were to be killed by the Roman soldiers. God had instructed Joseph to take the child and Mary and go to Egypt, to escape the slaughter of the children. You see many people do not know these things because they do not read the Bible.
One should never believe what Hollywood movies convey! And if you have read the ten commandments (Deuteronomy chpt 5), you will see that we are not to make (draw, paint, sculpt, or portray) an image or picture of God or angels! Hollywood has disobeyed with movies such as "The Ten Commandments", and "The Passion of the Christ".
Mary Magdalene was a sinful woman, but was saved (her sins were forgiven) by the Lord Jesus Christ. After salvation, she wanted to only be obedient to God. For more info type www.familyradio.com into your web browser. I hope this helps you.

I don't necessarily believe in the Priory of Sion, but I do believe that Jesus was married, most likely to Mary. There is quite a bit of circumstantial evidence to support it. Jesus obeyed all the commandments, and the first commandment was to multiply and replenish the earth. At Jewish weddings, it was the groom's job to provide the drinks, and what was Jesus first miracle? turning water to wine at the wedding. Jesus was often referred to as Rabbi. As a law, rabbi's had to be 30 years old and married. And of all the attacks the Pharisees planned they never called him single, which is a terrible sin for grown Jewish men. There are more, but I think you get the point.

Show me hard cure evidence that Jesus and Mary were married, there is NONE,, those painting in the movie from the artist Leonardo,, about the last supper, that was John sitted next to Christ, not Mary, john was the youngest of all the disciples and one of Jesus mosted beloved ones,,The bible doesn't ever mention Jesus being married, consider him on the cross he told John to take care of his mother , he didn't tell someone hey take care of Mary My wife to while your at it, now that is the Bible, but in these so called lost scriptures there IS NOTHING even in those false scriptures that even claim Jesus and Mary were married. So if your are going by a painting, first lets called the artist by name, his know as Leonardo and his is from a town in Italy that is were da Vinci comes from... One and two even if you want to ague that in the painting that young man is not John one of Jesus most beloved disciples then its a matter of Leonardo opinion and who cares,,,,NO written document state this stupid claim that Jesus was married to a women..
Plus look at all the art work of the early Church's and you will notice that in every painting JOHN is the youngest looking of all the disciples and you have no basic of an argument.. Sorry,, learn your history before you make claims you have no idea what your talking about and neither does this brown fellow,

Well considering the Prior of scion is a real group, although actually founded in 1956. I would have to say I believe that they exist yes, although the Davinci code portrays them not entirely correct.

As far as Jesus and mary having a child that has absolutely no historical basis, and actually there is strong evidence that says otherwise. So i don't believe they had a child.

The Priory of Scion was a group started up by 4 men in France in the 1950s. They have to foundation (having been dismantled from fraud) and have no evidence of anything. You can find their whole history on www.wikipedia.com. As for the Jesus thing, who knows. I just know I wouldn't be able to remain a virgin for 33 years.

THE REAL HISTORICAL ORIGIN OF THE PRIORY OF SION
Paul Smith
http://priory-of-sion.com/psp/id43.html...

The President of the 1956 Priory of Sion was André Bonhomme.

André Bonhomme was one of the four founding members of the Priory of Sion in Annemasse in 1956, along with Pierre Plantard. He is tired of being harassed by inquiries about the nature of the association and doesn't want any publicity – he refuses to be interviewed on television or on radio. He doesn't understand where people get the idea that the Priory was anything other than what it was – just a small club of friends.

This was the statement he made to the BBC in 1996:

"The Priory of Sion doesn't exist anymore. We were never involved in any activities of a political nature. It was four friends who came together to have fun. We called ourselves the Priory of Sion because there was a mountain by the same name close-by. I haven't seen Pierre Plantard in over 20 years and I don't know what he's up to but he always had a great imagination. I don't know why people try to make such a big thing out of nothing."

And to quote French Researcher Jean-Luc Chaumeil from his 1994 book ‘The Table Of Isis, Part 2, The Templars Of The Apocalypse: The Message Of A Sacred Enigma - Tales, Legends And Myths Of Rennes-le-Chateau’:

"Finally, the Priory of Sion was created in 1956. We were able to contact former members of this office, who all burst out laughing when we mentioned Rennes-le-Château. According to its former President, the association was at the time a "club for boy scouts" and NOTHING MORE….!"

And from the BBC 2 Timewatch documentary The History of a Mystery (1996):

"There's no evidence for a Priory of Sion until the 1950s; to find it, you go to the little town of St-Julien. Under French Law every new club or association must register itself with the Authorities, and that's why there's a dossier here showing that a Priory of Sion filed the proper forms in 1956. According to a founding member, this eccentric association took its name not from Jerusalem, but from a nearby mountain (Col du Mont Sion Alt. 786 m). The dossier also notes that the Priory's self-styled Grand Master Pierre Plantard, who is central to this story, has done time in jail."

Pierre Plantard was sentenced on 17 December 1953 by the court of St Julien-en-Genevois to 6 months in prison for breaking the French Law relating to "Abus de Confiance" (fraud and embezzlement).

The evidence for this is found in a letter written by the Mayor of Annemasse in 1956 to the Sub-Prefect of St Julien-en-Genevois, which can be found in the File that contains the 1956 Statutes of the Priory of Sion and the 1956 Registration Documents of the Priory of Sion.

"...in our archives we have a note from the I.N.S.S.E dated 15 December 1954 advising us that Monsieur Pierre Plantard was sentenced on 17 December 1953 by the court in St. Julien-en-Genevois to six months imprisonment for a ‘breach of trust’ under articles 406 and 408 of the Penal Code."

Articles 406 and 408 of the old-style Penal Code correspond to Articles 314-1, 314-2 and 314-3 of the present Penal Code. These articles are classified in Book III of the Code, ‘Crimes and offences against property’ – theft, extortion, blackmail, fraud, and embezzlement.

The Official Judicial Archives relating to Pierre Plantard’s criminal convictions and prison sentences are to be found in the Tribunal de Grande Instance de Thonon-les-Bains (this being the information as provided by Le Directeur des Archives départementales de la Haute-Savoie in the town of Annecy).

I'm so far behind on my Pop Culture, so I'm not sure what the piroy of sion is, but I personally see no reason why Jesus couldn't have been married and/or had children.

Way, WAY, too much secular and religious historical evidence against most of the claims Mr. Brown states as fact in The DaVinci code. Check it out for yourself! Don't be fooled by non-Christian media that makes fiction look dangerously like fact. All you have to do is take time and do the research yourself.

take a deep breath, it is a novel, not true.

The people who falsified the ideas of the priory of sion was proved false in French court for counterfieting the material they were puting into various librabaries.

It was all proven false years ago.

Novel, great book lousy movie
