What was this?

Question

When I was about 8 or 9 years old in the 80's, I was playing by myself in my grandparent's yard in the country (I was an only child). I remember standing looking out toward the road, when this transparent man was floating about a foot above me. He looked like the pictures of Jesus in robes you see in paintings. Though, I don't know if it actually was Jesus or not. He put both his hands on top of my head. I don't remember him saying anything. Then, of course, being little I ran screaming to my grandmother in the house. I don't remember ever seeing it again after that.

I know this sounds like a strange thing. But does anyone have any ideas on what this was? Did it happen to anyone else?

Let me explain that his head was about a foot over my head--not his feet were an entire foot above my head.

Remember, I was only 8 at the time---I had no idea what I was seeing (still don't) Geez!

I remember when I was 13 or 14, I was waiting for the bus, and I started to think of God and his Greatness, I seen a lone flower in a field of Mesquite, I plucked it, and cried all the way to school. I cried, and thanked God for loving me, and making all the beautiful things he made. I do not understand what happened to me that day, why was I crying, why was I thanking God. I did not know him, then, he was nothing but a fairy tale, but throughout my life I have remembered that moment, and it always reminds me of His Love.

I can not say what yours meant, but I would treasure it if I were you.

There are demons and there are angels. Jesus doesn't look like those pictures they portrait. Matter fact the Bible says he doesn't want us adoring any picture.
What I tell my kids, how they can recognize an apparition is; Where you scared when you saw it? if yes well is evil...
if not, it brings you peace is good. That is the difference, for what you said, I think it was nothing good if it made you scream. Demons are real and they need a place to live. You can read more in the Bible when Jesus was rebuking a Demon and it entered a pig. Talk to your pastor he can tell you more.

Well, it could not have been Jesus if it was not important enough for you to be able to remember how old you were. Your neighbors were probably smoking weed or crack. You the hallucinated after breathing the smoke. When you hallucinate, your brain just sends signals to your sensory organs. Many times these signals are just things the brain has stored (memories). So you thought you saw Jesus. Then again, you could just have a brain disorder.

As already stated, those pictures and paintings are not of Jesus but inferred to be Jesus by imaginative artists. Jesus never sat for a painting in his life - a bit of a vanity gesture that he was not given to.

One can only conclude it was simply a childhood imagination - or God forbid, possibly a demon posing as those pictures to use your innocence against you, in which case you did well to run.

It's not weird. With time people unconsciously change things in there memories, perhaps it was a dream you had at the time. Or maybe you saw Jesus. My grandma says she saw the devil walking down her road when she was 6 or 7 years old. Maybe it was someone in disguise in Halloween but since she was so young she thought it was true.

If he was standing about a foot above you, how did he put his hands on top of your head? Did he have to lean over real far? good grief.... And btw, even if Jesus existed, no one really knows what he looks like.

You are not crazy. I had the same vision when I was 4 years old. I was scared too at the time. However, I now feel it was Jesus letting me know He would always be with me.

I always wondered if anyone else had the same vision too. I'm happy to know that you did.

I don't know what it was, but I know he wasn't Jesus. The pictures of Jesus we have today, does not match the description that is in the bible. Thefore, unless his hair was white like wool and white as snow, his eyes were the color of flames and his body was the color of bronze that was burned in the furnace. It must have been somoene else.

It may have been an angel. That would be my guess, they are all around us.
