another religious conundrum!!!!

Oh, great question! Can't wait to see all the Fundie twisting and turning to explain it away! :-D

Edit: And I see that I am not disappointed. If Jesus = God, then there is NO WAY that he ever could have sinned. As God, he KNEW, long ages ago, that he would never sin in spite of all temptation by the devil--that is the benefit of omniscience, you see. Thus, the fact that he was tempted, and resisted, is meaningless since he already knew the outcome. We, however, do NOT know the outcome of our temptations because we are mortal and not omniscient; therefore, any test of our will is a REAL test, not just a matter of going through the motions to fulfill some prophecy or whatever. Jesus wasn't really tempted at all, he just did what he had to do because it was expected of him, knowing already that it would turn out okay.

In all ways he was tempted like us but didn't sin. See Matthew 4:1-11. He is God he understands our temptation but provides a way of escape from it 1Corinthians 10:13. No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. and God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.. Everyone knows that before they do something they know is sinful the hear that little voice or something telling them not to do it.

What do you mean by share in our tempation? Does that mean that Christ took part in the temptation? If so, that is not true, he was tempted, but he never gave into his temptation, therefore he did not sin. We will all be tempted(tested) by one thing or another, we can either choose to give into temptation(Sin), or give it to God and let him handle it. One example, is when Jesus was in wilderness and he was hungry and the thirsty, the devil said, if you are the son of God, why don't you turn this rock into a loaf of bread. If Jesus gave into temptation, and turned the rock into bread, he would have been going against what God told him to do, thefore he would have sinned. The fact is he did not give into temptation and therefore he didn't Sin.

Of COURSE he could have sinned, but he didn't. Thats the whole point. He could have failed at any point but never did. That's what makes the whole story and sacrifice so special. How many of us could have withstood what he did?

Jesus was not a God Man. He was simply a perfect man who had a pre-existance in Heaven. Three days after his death he was resurrected and stayed on earth a short while, then ascended back into Heaven. He HAD to be a sacrifice equal to what was ORIGINALLY lost when Adam sinned, a perfect man, nothing more, nothing less. Had he been a god man, his sacrifice would have not been equal to Adams and we would not have been saved. However, since he came as a man, he was worthy to die for us and re-pay the original sin with an equal Sacrifice, THAT'S WHY HE DIED ON AND NEAR PASSOVER. When the Lamb was killed and his blood was spread to keep the angel of god from killing. Jesus was that Lamb.

Temptation and sin are two seperate things. When someone tries to convince to to steal, that's being tempted. Stealing is the sin. Or even contemplating stealing, but being told to steal is not. Christ had the capacity and ability to give into the temptations he faced, but he chose not to.

Good question, I think He had a choice and He chose not to sin. I beleive he was as tempeted as we get sometimes to sin, but since he was always in prayer, at temple, and into the word of God He keeped Himself full of the Holy Spirit and that gave Him the power/strength not to sin. I know he was tempted because of Luke 4:1-2 Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit in the desert, where for forty days he was tempted by the devil. He ate nothing during those days, and at the end of them he was hungry.

Anyone saying that Jesus could not have sinned (if he chose to do so) is a liar. Jesus was born a man like any other man - not born as God. He was the Son of God born of the Holy Spirit like all other men - the separator is and Paul says it - that he was the FIRST BORN OF MANY..., many of the saved who receive the Holy Spirit.

GOD Lived with him - Inside his very being. If Jesus had of been God then his temptation in the wilderness would have been cheating. And Jesus didn't cheat. It was his determined will and his faith in God that kept him from sinning.

He was tempted but He did not sin.
It would be hard for us to follow Christ if He sinned even a little bit, so thank God He didn't sin.

He could have sinned. Like all of Heavenly Father's children, he had/has freedom of choice. He chose not to sin. He chose not to heed temptation even though his temptations were far greater than ours.

Christs humanity was tempted the same as ours. We have the same ability to make choices just like Jesus. The difference is he was totally committed to doing the Fathers will and not self centered like the rest of humanity.
