The Great American Boycott was successful because literally millions of people went into the streets, repudiating by their actions the message of the hierarchies. Because the message of the Great American Boycott was the message of the masses, and that’s why it prevailed--it was their own message. They imposed their message over the message of the hierarchies, and they won.

Easter in 2006 is a day to be remembered, because just before the Easter recess, the immigrant rights movement won. It had definitively defeated HR 4437. It had prevented the Hagel-Martinez from seeing the light of day from the Senate Judiciary Committee. Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, in that one instance, obeyed the message of the masses to not compromise with Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist and allow Hagel-Martinez to see the light of day.

Do you all recall that? The national debate on immigration had shifted favorably to us and the rest is history...

Because our fight, brothers and sisters, is a fight to carry the message that the working class is an international class, and it has no borders.

The same arguments you make were made by proponents of other racists about things like slavery and anti-integration, and against "race-mixing" you are bigots and idiots.

You can write all day sister, no one is listening to you, not even Bush. When on Ma 1 people took to the streets the politicians listened. You are too Northern to understand what it takes to make political goals into reality. On May 1 it happened and if you sit writing while we stand fighting in the street, you will not have your goal of ieelgalizing human beings met, ever.

Your boycott did not work it back fired, you were not the masses, you were still the minority, but with your marches you awakened the masses, and those are the people that have been writing. emailing and calling their political leaders. the only thing you stoped was the law that would have made illegals felons, But because of your stupid activists organizations and their disregard for the American people and the American flag, you and all the other illegal Mexicans have shown you true colors red,white, and green, have pissed off the masses and a lot of Mexican Americans that came legally, so that means no amnesty ever and most of your as*ses will be going home.

Boycott successful? Nope. ILLEGALS walking the streets of the United States waving Mexican flags? What?? Sorry, it did accomplish something though....made real Americans angry!

It would be a logistical nightmare, but I say gather up all the 22 million -- or whatever the number is -- and send them all packing.

High school students, seniors, and others would take various jobs to earn extra $$.

I would say that you and your brothers and sisters have actually hurt your cause, much more than helped it. Like a few others have said here, you helped bring illegal immigration to the fore in the minds of many more US citizens who beforehand had not realized the huge number of illegals in the country and who, after seeing your marches, were turned against your cause and joined with the citizens of the USA to kick your butts out of the country. I believe most US citizens also did not want HR 4437 to pass because they also did not like the other perks that were included in it for illegals, such as that "quick path to citizenship" and the "amnesty that isn't really amnesty." In the minds of the citizens of the USA, you are all criminals already, from the moment you crossed over into the USA without going through proper procedures and/or allowed your Visas to expire but remained in the USA - you are criminals without the passing of HR 4437.

Why don't you, instead, carry that fight with your brothers and sisters on at home in your own countries, where it belongs!

You are in a dream world. The boycott was not a success. It set race relations back years. You really got people angry, people who were on your side before.
You will lose in the end. The vote will go to the people, and you will be sent packing. The Immigration march only made american citizens angrier at illegals,so in reality it was a flop,schools were open so were places of employment,since illegals send most of their money back to mexico,establishments did not suffer much,organizers of the marches knew they blew it when illegal boneheads and their children started parading with the mexican flag,they tried to change their tactics but now everyone knows where they stand,and contrary to what they have claimed,the amnesty bill will not pass the congress floor

You all didn't show up where I work and guess what, we kept right on working without you. How do you think you are successfull if you did not stop any American places from working. Why do you think you deserve our money when you are here illegally. You cause trouble and use our money for yourselves and pay nothing in. We live here. We see the backlash from the marches. Even the Senate and White House are now suggesting they would be open to 'border security first'.
