There were choices. Let Jesus be an ordinary man and then let him try to convince people he was really carrying the message of God. Probably wouldn't work.

Or, let him come like Superman and obviously be a God. Then give the message. People would believe, but would they do it? Or would they say, "Sure , it's easy for you to say don't get mad when somebody takes a shot at you. But we can't do that because bullets don't bounce off of us."

Since neither approach was very likely to work, the best thing was to have Jesus be completely human. Then, when he said, "Turn thou the other cheek" people would know he would do it even though a smack on the other cheek would hurt him as much as it did them. So he was completely human and vulnerable to sorrow, grief, pain, even death. He practiced what he preached to show people that human beings could live the life of which he spoke.

But then, we're right back to a normal man, aren't we? So. to defeat that perception he was given powers, like healing and raising the dead. But he was careful never to use his powers for himself, even when Satan tempted him to ease his hunger by turning stone into bread. If he had, he would have been right back into the Superman category and no one would try to emulate him.

The prophets had told of the coming of the Christ. One thing that was said was that he would be born of a virgin. So that's the way it happened because any of those who knew that and were hearing his message later would have one leg up on believing he came from God.

Many times things were done deliberately to fulfill prophecy. If you doubt it read Matthew 26: 53 and 54 or Matthew 21 verses 1 through 5. And before you begin to think all this was part of a deception, ask yourself whether a prophet sees only what will occur in some mystical fashion or if he simply sees the future. A prophecy fulfilled is a prophecy fulfilled even if when it is fulfilled deliberately. It was important both for the message to be heard and to be believed and the Bible is honest in revealing the fulfillment of prophecy.

God knows man very well. Even when he delivered Israel with mystical plagues and columns of fire, they turned to their old ways and built a Golden Calf. So he let the story play out in a way that men would both understand and tend to believe.

Jesus came to clarify an old story that, over the centuries had been buried under dogma, traditions, and human encumberances. He knew people would deviate from the teachings of Jesus as well, but he was giving us all one more chance to understand a simple message. Love the God who made you, and love your neighbors who are his children and your siblings.

The popular misconception that Isaiah was predicting a virgin birth results from a faulty translation of the Hebrew word `almah, which merely meant "maiden" or "unmarried female." Bethulah was the Hebrew word that signified a woman who was sexually pure; this was the word used in such passages as Deuteronomy 22:13-24 where sexual purity was obviously under consideration. The other word (`almah) was used in such passages as Genesis 24:43 where, although translated virgin in many English versions, reference to the sexual purity of the woman wasn't necessarily intended. If, then, Isaiah had meant to imply that the child in his prophecy would be miraculously conceived, he would have surely used the Hebrew word that unequivocally meant virgin.

As incredible as it may seem, there is even more to question in this wonderful virgin-birth prophecy. After saying in his prophecy that the child to be born would be called Immanuel, Isaiah named the son borne by the prophetess not Immanuel, as he had predicted, but Maher-shalal-hash-baz (8:3). It was as if he wanted both to fulfill and to invalidate the prophecy!

The fact that this child was given a name other than Immanuel has led some Bible apologists to argue that he was not the one predicted in Isaiah's prophecy. But even if they could unequivocally prove this argument true, which they cannot, that would do very little to restore Isaiah's credibility as a prophet, because Jesus, who presumably fulfilled the prophecy in at least a secondary sense, was not named Immanuel either. No record exists of Jesus ever having been called Immanuel by his contemporaries. Those who in later times applied the name to him, and still continue to, have done so only in labored attempts to make Matthew's statement a valid interpretation of prophecy. So of what value is a "double-sided" prophecy that has been shown to have serious flaws on both sides?

The argument is funny how people say she wasn't a virgin. So let's say she wasn't, in the sense we understand virgin (no sex). BUT, the hebrew word used (`almah) in the prophesy of Jesus in Isiah, carries the exact connotation as the greek word (parthenos) used in Luke to describe Mary. So whether she was without sex, or just a young woman, the word usage in both prophesy of Mary, and account of Mary line up. The point is, Jesus is God in the flesh. He did walk on earth, and either he was an ingenious lunatic, or God, and you get to make that decision for yourself

Jesus had to be born from a virgin because he was the perfect pure being. and being as such he had to enter the world through a totally unstained being. ( im not saying that sex stains us, for it can be a great thing in the context of marraige, But Lust is a huge part of the Human fallen existence) Also in orde to show true paternity in God the Father.

The 'virgin birth' is a standard metaphor used by religious writers to symbolize that the person is awake to a different type of consciousness, one that doesn't identify with the individual body. The person has been virtually 'reborn' by a direct experience of God/Ultimate Reality and this experience is such that their identity is no longer with things like 'individual consciousness' and its associated elements such as individual bodies and personalities.

They used this in the stories of Buddha, too. To take this literally misses the entire point. It's just a symbol.

It would ensure that no other father would claim Jesus as his own.

He is born via the Holy Spirit (the male) and Mary (the female). It was through this union that Jesus is born sinless (ie not subject to the original sin passed down through all humanity via Adam).

Remember, He (Jesus) is the perfect sacrafice - sinless.

Put your faith in Him.

He was not born to a virgin. He was born to a pure soul. Some one who was unmarked by sin. The interpretation was wrong. Probably to hold women down.

Because it was prophesized by the Prophet Isaiah (old testament) looonngg before Jesus was born:

Isaiah 7:14
Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.

Matthew 1:23
"The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel" —which means, "God with us."

Because that was the "sign" God gave that He would do a work in the world. When Mary was approached by the angel and told that she would be the mother of the messiah she asked how it could be, since she had never been with a man.
