My first turbo car was a 1991 eagle talon tsi awd purchased from a shady used car dealer for 2750 with the snow tires off my old car. For under three grand it was the nicest car ive ever owned. It only lasted two years, but at about 30k miles/year it was a good deal.
All wheel drive and turbo is a blast, 195 hp, limited slip rear end, 5 speed manual, 16 in alloy wheels factory spoiler and z-rated tires. Handled like on rails and looked good doing it. Nowadays those cars (DSM's) are considered old school and can pull mid-7 second quarter miles fully built with a shot of NO2. I still have the car. A project for down the road.

yes, i buy them all the time. most cost less than $600.00 but you have to know what your looking at. i just bought a 2002 Saturn SL2 for $150.00 and the previous owner thought it had a bad engine. i put a new starter on it ($45.00 my cost) and drove it by her house two hours later. ya shoulda seen the look on her face...priceless! once i got a '77 ford mustang II for $200.00 and she was told it needed an engine because the oil light was coming on. knowing they had a familiar fuel pump diaghram leak problem, i smelled the dipstick. yep, crankcase full of gas. i replaced the fuel pump and changed the oil twice, and drove it for 6 years without a problem. i also picked up a really nice '56 chevy pickup with a slow cranking problem for $300.00 and all that was wrong with it was a badly grounded negative battery cable that bolted to the firewall. i cleaned the cable end, the bolt, and the firewall where it attached (all within 5 minutes) and drove it away. boy, was the previous owner pissed. i also bought a '65 Olds 442 for $60.00 because it wouldn't start. the owner had socked alot of money trying to get it to start to no avail. i reached inside the hood, moved the distributor wire that was touching a ground, started it up, and had many happy days street racing locally. i bought a '44 jeep (MASH) truck all original for $50.00, it wouldn't start and the guy had put a new magneto (distributor) in too. only he had it in backwards (180 degrees off). that was a neat truck to drive. it goes on & on. the deals are out there. ya just gotta know what your looking at......sometimes its just pure luck!!!

1985 Nissan Sentra coupe- ran great, never died on me. only lacked a little power. but considering it was 15 years old when I bought it for $500, it ran extremely well... I miss that car. I eventually sold it to a teenager down the street for $250 and he wrapped it around a tree, sad for the family, but sadder for the car... I miss that car.
oh well, that car is dead(also, the kid down the was fine after the accident)
I bought it online on autotrader.com
