Yes, Lot's wife had difficulty understanding Matthew 5:13, she not only had difficulty understanding it, she had difficulties hearing or reading it. 2 reasons for that. 1 is she was turned into a pillar of salt, secondly it happened years before the Gospels were written.

Lot's wife is from the Old Testament and "Jesus wept" is in the New Testament (John 11:35, actually). I'm sorry but your question is confusing. Jesus wept outside the tomb of Lazarus and I think it was because of the lack of faith of those who knew Him so well. Lot's wife was turned to a pillar of salt when she cared more about the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah than she did about heading God's warning to not look back. I hope this helps.

The book of Matthew was written many years after Lot's wife was allegedly turned into a pillar of salt. Even today, many Christians don't even understand that simple phrase or it's true meaning.

Ummmm Lot's wife was long dead before Matthew wrote his gospel. Lot's story is in the Old Testament and Matthew is located in the New Testament.

13"You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.
