We need to determine whether we treat this story literally or as symbolic. Most of the time, spiritual reality is so beyond words that people use metaphorical language to try to point to what they're saying. Taking a metaphorical approach to this, what do we think that the story means? To me, the eating of the fruit and the subsequent banishment of adam and eve represent our own perception of how god treated an act that resulted in this world of birth and death: we perceive god as being angry and punishing (something that Jesus points out in the parable of the Prodigal Son where he shows how the good son's son perception of how the father should behave was not in sync with the reality of Unconditional Love). Instead, the act of eating the fruit is metaphorical for God's single creation -- just One thing -- to ponder the possibility that maybe there is something more and better than God. We are that single creation and this gave rise to the whole universe and the problems we see -- NOT because God created it so but because God's creation (using the power of God) made the universe in response to this.
Regardless of whether or not this metaphorical interpretation is in sync with you, it is helpful to think of the pre-fruit-eating state as the state of Oneness, where our individuality and specialness and the whole world of duality were not there. This is what is experienced when one has an enlightenment experience -- a direct experience of God that directly shows the person that they are the whole universe. This experience has been realized by people in Zen, Christianity, Islam (e.g. Rumi), etc.

According to the Old Testament, peaceful, blissful. No wars, no destruction, no sins, nothing, man existed alongside his animal brethren. When Adam and Eve took the apple, it was the apple to open their eyes to the exposing truth: to shame, to sin, to hurt, to pain, and all the follies of humankind we have now. Think of it as the Catholic version of the story of Pandora's box, and Pandora, releasing sin and destruction to the unsuspecting world. Well, the apple, in a way, was the Pandora's box.

Well life was perfect, crazy as it may seem I know all about this stuff! God gave them both everything that they had always wanted if them obayed him this very simple rule, not to eat the fruit from the tree. Well Eve was kinda stupid and had "peerpreasure' on her and she did what God asked her not to do. A very simple task. But we all get stupid in our life this. was her fault but life was paradise!

They were one with their creator, living souls, naked and not ashamed. All living creatures were one. Eve was the transgressor but Adam willingly died for his bride and in eating the fruit they lost that oneness with their creator, they were ashamed of their nakedness and the animals and man were now in seperation.

Shrinku, you need to read your Bible a bit more carefully. The Garden of Eden was NOT in heaven. The Bible NEVER says that. It says it was between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers.
Of course, it's only a fairy tale anyway.

Life was innocent. It was the fruit from the tree that gave them knowledge of good and evil.

Have you ever seen a young baby that was facinated by a grain of sand on the ground... I am assuming a bit like that.

It was Paradise. Plenty to eat, plenty to do, beautiful environment, perfect peace with all creation. No mosquitos, or gnats, or fire ants. No anger or hate, no thorns or weeds, nothing but beauty and peace.

Full of perfection. There was no sin and they could eat from any tree of the garden but the tree god commanded them to eat from.
