Like a wedding reception?
Tables, chairs, table clothes, center pieces, flowers, confetti or flower petals? Anything that the bride and groom want!

I think it depends what type of reception you are attending.... if it is a formal, then wear a formal dress, otherwise, it is always ok to wear a nice simple black dress with nice shoes and a beautiful pair of shoes!

It really depends on what you are willing to spend,, a nice backdrop for the central table can be made from inexpensive sheer curtains hanging on a wall behind the table decorated with colored netting fabric bows and balloons or silk florals.

flowers, good diverse reading material, some sort of candy or something to nibble on while you wait, perhaps a water cooler off to the side, comfy chairs that look good. not ratty old beat up ones you found at a yrad sale for $10. an elegant rug, couch would be nice too. one that matches the seats obviously.

Balloons.
Draped fabric on the walls with ribbons.
White christmas lights on anything that will take it.
Fabric covered folding chairs with ribbons.
Find friends with floor plants and decorate them.
Pull out some artificial christmas trees and decorate them with white lights and wedding decor.
Buy mirrored squares (try Home Depot), put them in the middle of each table, sit some candles on them, and sprinkle the mirrors with confetti that color coordinates with your color.
