My parents think that by me instant messaging my friends is the same thing as me being on a chat line where I talk to people I don't know!!!! And they want me to delete my myspace!!! What should I tell them so I can still talk to my friends that moved?

i would get on myspace and show them and tell them hey these people are my friends i have known such and such this long and this person is,,,,i would just have your parents sit down with you and you explain everything to them, when you are more open i think they are more understandin, when my kids get old enough for the computer i plan to be watchin every move and tell them i would like to know what they are doin and who they are talkin to, i think to have effective communication both sides have to be open about the situation, good luck

I don't know about the IM stuff, but on myspace, I know they have special controls for younger people like you. I'd look into those and show them to your parents. Tell them why you would like to keep your account on myspace: so you can stay in touch with your friends that have moved. Make a pact with them that you won't put any content up they wouldn't approve of, including any pictures that might be inappropriate. That should help you out for now, at least as far as myspace is concerned. Good luck!
