I had one for 13 years and he could never swim.
He sank. I had to help him out of the pool more than
once. So always be around if they are near water.

all dogs can swim, but some are just afraid of water. Get a baby pool and try to get him used to the water

most dog breeds are able to swim, but just like humans some are fearful and just prefer land. If you like to swim and get a new puppy you probably can teach him good water skills by GENTLY introducing him to water.

I have a 5 year old dalmation and he loves to swim.we take him to the lake and we've had to buy a life jacket with a 50 ft.leash to make him come back to the boat/shore, esp. if their are ducks in the water. He's been in the water since he was 6 weeks old. Loves baths too,he takes showers with my husband,we have a large shower! thankful for that! How old is you dal?

they can swim but you have to go with him and show him that it is okay and start out in shallow water to get him use to it but before you do that check with the vet to make sure he is in good shape and your dog will love you for it.
