Hot Dog on a Stick's corn dogs are dark brown because they re-fried on high temperatures.
The corn dogs you but in the store is light brown/yellow because the factory only fried it once or twice to let the people at home to fry more themselves.
Each company makes the corn dogs differently from one another.

Frying corn dogs usually makes them turn out dark brown. Have you ever seen or eaten a corn dog at the fair? I have a deep fryer at home, and I like to make the corn bread batter, dip an all beef hot dog in it and make some corn dogs, and guess what? They come out dark brown.

The oil they were fried in. The oil from a vendor has likely been used to cook hundreds of corn dogs or fries or fish sticks before your corn dog was cooked. The store bought ones are either cooked in cleaner oil or you are buying them to cook in your own oil at home therefore they are lighter in colour.

Possibly they are made with Corn Meal. Corn meal will make them yellow.
Besides my favorite food is Spaghetti-on-a-stick.
