My neighbor lets his dog out to use the bathroom and it comes straight to my yard to crap. We have asked him to keep it on a leash, but he doesn't. My boyfriend went over and told him to pick it up, but he only did it once. We have thrown it back over into his yard, but he doesn't care. I don't want to call the city on him but don't know what else to do. I don't have any pets of my own and keep my yard looking nice. I don't want other animals using my yard as a toilet, plus I have small children running around outside. It's just disrespectful and rude. We do have leash laws, but obviously he doesn't care about that either. Not to mention the fact that my 4 year old is scared of dogs and she can't go outside when it's out there. How should I approach this?

Either put up a fence or call animal control. You have the right to keep someone elses dog off of your own property. I would send him a registered letter ( even though he is net door) warning him that you have tried everything else and if he doesn't comply you will call animal control.
Get the dog on your property on video!

Keep throwing crap in their yard or even better, throw it in his driveway for him to drive over and if that doesn't work, throw it at him!!! Throw the crap on top of his house!!! Against the windows!! In his BBQ grill!!! Have fun with it! But not in the mailbox, because the police told me that was a federal offense and that I had better not do it again.

A picture speaks a thousand words. Then take the picture to your local city office that handles unleashed, unsupervised pets.
You have every right to be really annoyed. You have a very inconsiderate lazy-*** neighbor. Tough titty make the call.

there are some spray chemicals that will repel dogs. i think they actually call it doggie-b-gone. i dont know what kind of chemicals they are but dogs dont like it. after a couple of weeks or so the dog wont want to use your lawn then you can stop using the spray. if this doesnt work or you dont want a fence then youll have to go the route of the dog catcher.
good luck

i'm sure there is an ordinance against it. call the city, he'll be warned and fined its really the only thing you can do because it sounds like you have tried to get him to take care of it just because he should and he obviously doesn't care. its not like he'll go to jail, he'll probably even be warned first and then fined. it just doesn't pay to be nice to some people, they don't 'get it' until they are forced to get it. i wouldn't feel bad about, he's doing it to himself.
