Before you dismiss God as not being real, please gather some more facts. The bible is written over thousands of years with many different authors and yet it fits together in perfect unison and has the thumbprint of God all over it's pages. Let me give you some examples:
Psalm 22: reads as if it were dictated by Jesus as he was hanging on the cross yet it was written 700 years before crucifixion was invented.
There were over 300 prophecies written and in circulation several hundred years before Jesus was born that were fulfilled by Jesus perfectly.
I was taught how impressive this was by a scholar named Chuck Missler. For example, if you have 9 red balls and 1 black ball in a bucket and you blindly reach your hand inside, you have a 1 in 10 chance of getting the black ball. That's the law of probability.
Now if you take just 8 of the predictions in the bible and you tried to find a person that could match these predictions
1. Someone born in Bethlehem
2. He would minister in Galilee and Nazareth
3. He would be rejected by religeous leaders
4. He would be betrayed for 30 pieces of silver
5. He would die among criminals
6. He would be pierced
7. He would be given vinegar and gall, they would cast lots for his garments
8. He would be buried in the borrowed tomb of a rich man.
Using statistics and probabilities, I was taught that if you reached your hand into a bucket and tried to find a person that would fulfill these prophecies(represented by the black ball), you would have to have a bucket the size of ireland and the balls would be two feet deep in the bottom of the bucket.
But Jesus fulfilled all 300 prophecies. Perfectly and completely proving he was the Messiah.
There are bible codes, types and shadows woven through the bible linking together books and authors that never met each other and yet everything fits together flawlessly.
There are people who like to say that the bible isn't accurate (or there are inconsistencies) and many other excuses to try and dismiss this awesome book and sew seeds of doubt into peoples mind. All I can say is don't listen to some meathead who has never read or studied the bible.
There are several excellent bible scholars that have study books that can help show you that these men were more than just famous guys and help you understand the hard to digest stuff like Noah's flood, why men used to live 700 years and evolution vs. creation.
Good luck, and hope this is helpful.

Yes those people are real people and all of the miracles and different things they did, including the resurrection of Jesus Christ, is true. The Bible is 110% true, and if someone proves to you otherwise it is because they are taking that verse out of context. Read the first five books of the Bible, Isaiah, Psalms, Proverbs and the New Testament and you will know that Christianity is true. Pray to God that he will send the Holy Spirit into you and that he will enlighten you to see the Truth. Also if you have trouble on Jesus' resurrection, then read the mini series called "Case for Christ" it was written by an atheist trying to prove that Jesus' life was not true, but through it he actually found Christ. They are amazing. I hope and pray the Holy Spirit will enlighten you to the wonderful truth and promise of Christianity.

It's not necessary to believe in God , being a great person is so much more important , if you believe in God that's a lovely plus mind you
as for Jesus and other biblical people , yes they did exist and if you look in other directions for references to them you will find them
Jesus is mentioned in other religions also not just in the Christian bible
there are also scientific investigations into the life of Jesus
if also you can read the bible and any other religious teachings in a more symbolic way rather than literal , I'm sure you will find the teachings are wonderful whether you believe they are fact or fiction
whats important is you take what makes sense to you and throw away all else
do a little study and investigation for yourself and find your own answers

And that's a BIG 'But...' Ah, I wouldn't be too quick to be dismissive of the very REAL probability of God's existence. You, no matter what your perceived levels of awareness/ understanding, must know that collectively, the human knowledge base is way to limited to make such a sententious determination. How do I know this? It has been my area of research for the past twenty years, i.e., the collective human intellect and epistemological investigations has been integral to the methodological approach. Be certain that you question for the right reasons and not for some idea of "fitting in" to some advante pseudo-intellectual set that has "determined" it to be smacking of some kind of "naivete" to harbor the possibility of there being a Supreme God: The subliminal messages sent with a mere "raising of the eyebrow" - this intellectual snobbery, succeed only robbing individuals of their right to make up their own mind about God. Teleological and cosmologically speaking, the "evidence" ways MUCH MORE heavily upon the side of God's existence, than "the universe being devoid of a divine entity..." so much so that I can now scarcely "wrap my head around" what I perceive to be that nearly-negligible possibility! The personalities in the Bible are all very real and most of their attributed roles have been independently authenticated though other historical references other than the Bible. Try to remember the fact that communications of that time depended upon cuneiform tablets, papyrus scrolls, and other "primitive-by-today's-standards" devises... but the records are there nonetheless.

Yes, I think the whole God think is the result of someone's over-active imagination.
Jesus and Moses were probably based on real-life people, much in the same way as any character in a work of fiction (eg. the bible) is based upon the personalities of people the author has encountered throughout their lives.

Adam to Noah is 10 genertions in the Genealogy of Jesus, Shem to Abraham is 20 in
the genealogy of Jesus, there are 42 more Matt.1:1-17; and Jesus is born in Roman
times the sixth Empire in the world with Satan in it, the world will get the bible in the seventh and by the time ithe bible is 303 years old, the 8th is here and Jesus second coming is in the eight and his world does not have Satan in it[end of that world].
I am into serious bible study and for years I have done my very best,
When I have my Lord and Savior check it out, I hope to pass the test,
I love the math for the bible time line, I do all with it but let it rest,
It may appear that I am obsessed, but I am so gratefully impressed.
I knew the LORD would give us everything, so no one made it a mess,
It is not exactly in order, but the truth is there, none have to guess,
From Adam to Moses death, 2553 years past, Jesus at age 30 saw this,
It was good enough for him, now it is good enough for me in 2006.
I fell connected to Noah born 1056 and he died after Adam in 2006,
He lived 350 years after the global flood, imagine doing such as this,
2006 + 2060 before Christ and now 2006 after Christ, it all did exist,
All sixty-two in genealogy of Jesus to Matt.1:1-17; all but ten on list.
Jesus is our savior, he came to put an end to man's pain unto death,
And the bible time line has everything to do with this coming to pass,
As in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive PROMISE,
We will come into Jesus kingdom and forever be his special guest.
There will be a new heavens and a new earth, all is saved at last,
Life has been rough in this old world, but we want remember this,
Isaiah says it will not come into mind, it is erased as we know bliss,
God will wipe away all tears and dwell with his family in happiness.
So I am a serious bible student and understanding is my one request,
I do not not have a desire to be obsessed, but I am gratefully impressed,
Billions are involved in,"be fruitful and fill the earth," as God's request,
Thousands for new heavens, the new earth will be home for all the rest.
Jesus our Lord and savior rescues every soul in resurrection from death,
Adam and Eve were created souls, from them born souls must face death,
Jesus did the same that through death he might destroy it's cause at last,

the bible was written by a man so there is a possibility that these people did exist and were "famous" in their generations but the actual dates of when these being were alive are not those of the times stated in the bible they are not the ones that are so called messiahs, and saviors

You should not imagine God as a person, or something you imagine as God. It's everywhere, in the nature, your feelings, It's inside you! The people in the Bible were in some sort of contact with God. And you can get closer to it too! Just realize how good life is!
If you believe in yourself, you believe in God. !

I think it's fairly likely that they either existed or were based off of people who really existed, but the miraculous things and the things involving God, probably not true.
