Basically, he's either saying nothing or he means the opposite in about 99.9% of the cases. I don't think it's strictly an "American" thing, some Canadian guys say that and I'm sure other nationalities do, too.

He doesn't want to lose you but find out if he's cheating if he is then ask him and don't panic or tell your friends anything because if you do they get you even hi-per about about getting mad at him ... If he lies 2 times and have all the information about him and the other girl then you dump him because you need a man or boy who is true to you...
