It depends on the drug you are taking and the dose. Some drugs have very long half lives (their actions start after a few weeks and their concentration in the body remains stable and missing one dose wont affect much), and others have short half lives (their actions last maybe a few hours and then the drug is eliminated from the body). Missing one dose of such a drug would make your body totally devoid of medication and the effect is more visible.
What matters is also the severity of disease. If its mild then the BP potentially increses to a level that is higher than mild but not dangerous but if the disease is severe then the BP might reach a dangerous value!
However maintaining a routine helps. Also Blood pressure isnt a static thing it changes levels from morning till evening, with posture and every day (even with medication) might have variations in the level of BP. The target level is 115/75 mm HG.

Probably not. Most people forget to take a pill, now and then. But the person should contact the pharmacy or doctor and ask what to do. Different drugs are used differently, and there may be a specific "right" way to go back on it after missing a day.

Probably not, but it is certainly best to take the medicine consistently. Particularly with beta blockers, such as metoprolol, or propranolol, it is advised not to stop them immediately. Apparently in Britain, they are advising getting away from this particular type of blood pressure medication anyway. *See below. In general, it seems that consistent use of blood pressure medications will help to keep a more stable blood pressure and help to prevent end organ damage or cardiac events.

Depends on the person. It is possible that a sensible diet along with BP meds will help sustain a "normal" blood pressure regardless od missing your daily medication. One day could be minor for some and major for others.

Nothing should really happen if it is forgotten for only one day, but if the person taking the medication has a problem with remembering to take it, perhaps they should consider setting an alarm on their mobile phone, like many women do to remind them to take their contraceptive pill.

It is possible their BP could elevate - always take prescription medications according to the Doctor's orders. Good Luck.

Your BP WILL go up. It may or may not be to a dangerous level. If you are in good health generally, you'll probably be OK, but make sure you get back on it as soon as.
