The actual fruit is not important. The fruit represents temptation, and the human nature. But if you must know, the fruit was similar to a pear, but the color of an apple and the consistency of a plum, but sweet like a watermelon.

The talmud suggest a few different items. Some say wheat, some say grapes, some say a citron, and... well, I cant remember the last one (but they don't even consider an apple at all!)
Though, I don't think the "fruit" is literal, and I imagine that in the talmud the various choices offered are related to more a philosphical idea than anything physical.

Who cares! If it was utterly important then I'm sure God would of said in the bible. The fact is that Adam and Eve sinned and that's that! If you knew then would it change the way you feel about God wether it's good or bad? I won't love God more if it were a mango or hate him if it were a banana.
How could the "fruit" be the act of sex if he told them to procreate! Sex isn't a sin....it's sex outside marriage that's a sin.

Since it was the tree of knowledge, I think it perished in the flood and there is no longer any fruit of that type in the world.

It was the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Ultimately it was the fruit of death. It probably stunk reallly bad.

I would guess passion fruit. I don't see why an apple would get you in so much trouble.
