No, $9,000.00 in damages is not a total loss for a $33,000.00 vehicle.

If the cost of repairs exceeds about 75% - 80% of the value of the vehicle it will normally be written off. Less than that and it will be repaired.

Your damage was only about 27%, nowhere near a total loss.

I don't know about Virginia laws, but usually insurance companies will opt for whatever is cheaper. If the cost to repair exceeds the value of the car, then they total it. If the cost to repair is less than the value of the car, then they repair it. It's simple math.

It would not matter on the 'state' besides the fact that it does matter on the coverage enterprise - maximum companies entire it at around 60% of CCC envisioned cost / CCC is decrease than broking by way of roughly 15% in maximum circumstances - a reliable rule of thumb is 50% of Kelly or NADA. *the reason in the back of 60% is suppliments (unseen injury after the fix is began). additionally they look on the threat ingredient of the fix, some maintenance on no account deliver the vehicle lower back as much as a secure vehicle lower back, and entire it by way of default, IE: finished subframe rigidity (a folded subframe around the vehicle physique).
