Homosexuality is NOT a disease; I have never ever heard that before, what an odd idea.....
Mental illnesses are all different, but for the most part are an actual physical problem within the brain, so yes, absolutely.
Alcoholism, mental illess and and obesity are all genetic as well as hereditary; you are more likely to get them if someone else in your family has them, that is why doctors always ask that when they take your medical history.

Homosexuality - It may have biological factors, but it isn't a disease. Homosexuality doesn't need to be cured. So no.

Here is my OPINION - I do not have personal experience with ANY of the below:
Mental illness - real disease, treatable with medication, hereditary, not style decision
alcholism - could be either one depending on the situation
obesity - could be due to either medical or lifestyle situations,
treatable with medication, can be hereditary
homosexuality - not a disease or a life style decision, not treatable or hereditary, simply the way someone is (like having brown eyes).

You cannot lump all those in one category; It's like trying to say "Do you think green and evil and hydrogen are colors, yes or no only". Some mental illnesses are genetic, alcoholism can be a lifestyle decision but iirc pregnant women who do certain drugs can get their unborn children addicted as well, obesity can be curbed by taking certain drugs that block the "hunger" signal, and homosexuality had enough theories and "evidence" behind it to support either way.

that's no longer a "confident" or "no" questions/subject rely. i do no longer think they seem to be a "ailment" interior a similar appreciate which you're able to think of you need to seize a chilly form of element. some weight problems IS brought about via a scientific concern, some is basically brought about via overeating and laziness. Alcoholism is an dependancy, which i've got faith is the two actual and psychological yet no longer a ailment. psychological ailment is obviously scientific. a sprint prognosis does factor interior the path of parasites probable inflicting scyzophrinia (sp?).... psychological ailment is a brilliant subject rely. Homosexuality... Definately no longer a ailment. some is definately scientific...together with hormonal and chromosonal..., and so on... lots is via way of existence selection too. I woudn't call any of those a ailment extremely... that's different from "rooster pox"........ this is my opinion.

Mental illness is just that - an illness; not a disease. Alcoholism is an affliction; not a disease. Obesity is either a hormonal imbalance, or laziness; not a disease. Homosexuality is most certainly NOT a disease.

Mental illness, yes. For the others, if the person does not CHOOSE the behavior, but is still compelled to do it, then yes.
(since the other items are behavior issues, I assume the obesity is referring to people who are fat because they eat a lot, not because of other physical problems)

Mental illness - yes I believe it's a disease. The rest I believe are personal choices that people don't want to take responsibility for.

All I can say is that Mental illness is real. I suffer from anxiety attacks. I have physical symptoms and emotional reactions. They have gotten much better the older I get. But following the death of my daughter I now understand depression is real. I always though it was just a state of mind, just get over it right.
