Depends on when you are going, what days and how far in advanced you book. Southwest has low fares, but those go fast and compared to the majory carriers like Continental that offer non-stop service as well, you may be able to get comparable and sometimes cheaper prices.

If you use the travel websites make sure you READ THE FARE RULES. Sites like Priceline, Cheap Tickets, Hotwire, Lowestfare and others that advertise "deep discounts" and dont let you see what you are getting before you purchase are highly restricted fares. You can not change them for any reason. Secondly they add booking fee's and usually you can find cheaper if not comparable prices with the airline itself and have better flight and schedule options.

Weekends are more expensive and depending on what convention is going on when, Vegas can be hard to get in and out of for cheap. Book flights mid-week or Saturday to get the best deals. I fly to Vegas all of the time and I have found that Southwest Airlines, America West Airlines and American Airlines have the best prices. Prices are cheapest for late afternoon and evening or overnight flights and flights mid-week.
