I don't think men fear women who are smarter than them. i think they are just intimidated by women. It depends on the guy though, too. Some men think women with brains are sexy. Some men are just shallow and like women's appearances. But your example doesn't really explain the question. If he likes you, then it's not that he fears you, maybe he's just too shy. A lot of men nowadays, want the women to be forward and ask them, so they don't feel like they will be shut down.

i think it because history has the man being the provider, the tough guy who takes care of and protects his woman.
when the woman is smarter then she probably makes more money therefore she has become the provider. she doesn't need his protection because she is more confident from being highly educated
smart woman are a threat to their masculinity. make sure you make him feel like a man ( agian another way women are smarter thatn men, we control the way they feel about themselves) tell him you think he is smart. compliment the things he does.

because guys naturally have a need to feel dominant, its just instincts, pure and simple. and having a girl that leaves you behind on an intellectual level can be intimidating. advice? don't flaunt what you know around him or brag about it. otherwise you shouldn't have any problems

Yes, definitely, especially if they are not arrograntly confident. They want to be dominating, most of them and intelligence can be the most dominant aspect. So they need it.

maybe he is afraid you will see him for what he is if
you get too close. my opinion is too many guys are
so insecure of themselves they are afraid to be with
a woman who might see that they are no better than
