Try something more casual than just asking them out on a date.
Try this. Get a few of your girl friends together and a few guys for some activity, like dinner, hanging out at a park, whatever. Then ask the guy if he would like to come hang out with all of you. This semi date removes alot of the pressure.

Well, you tell me! If you go straight for it, they back off. If you don't, they may never come. There must be a way in-between but God knows where. A piece of advice though (tried & true): if you really want that person, don't you ever go about becoming a good friend who always understands. That will kill all of it. And more.
