Or is it the other way around. My aunt was a catholic and became a mormon. It is weird.

People hate what they don't understand or what they fear. Isn't it peculiar to have one religion "hate" another religion. God must really love that.

Even though your aunt left Catholicism for Mormonism, I doubt it was because she hated Catholics.

No offense to your aunt or to your family, but it's probably very likely that when your aunt left the Catholic Church, she didn't know its teachings too well to begin with. That's probably why she was easy prey for those Mormon missionaries who came knocking on her door.

To answer your question -- I'm Catholic and I've met more than a few Mormons, especially when I lived in Japan. I don't think they hated Catholics -- and no Catholic I know hates Mormons (or anyone else).

I don't believe Mormons hate Catholics. We are all the same except maybe other churches have there own believes. I'm Catholic and I have some family that are Mormons and we love each other and get along very well. I don't have anything against other religions. I think we are all beautiful and unique!

I am a Mormon, and I do not hate Catholics. My Entire family is RC, I am also a former RC turned Atheist then Mormon.

One of the things that I favored amongst Mormons when searching for truth, was that they were not discriminating against other religions, nor do they condemn everyone to hell. Mormons are very loving people, and try to live like Christ.

Probably Catholics hate Mormons, but not the other way around. Mormons have a fair idea of what their church believes, Catholics don't have a clue.

I'm Catholic and we don't hate anyone. Our religion teaches love and tolerance. I know a lot of other Christian faiths take issue with the Catholic Church but I can't tell you from first hand experience if Mormon's hate Catholics or not.

I'm a Mormon and I don't hate Catholics. I don't hate anyone, even though lots of people here seem to hate Mormons.

Normally I don't like to cut and paste, but here are a few points from http://www.catholic.com/library/Mormon_Stumpers.asp that illustrate the historical attitude of Mormons toward the Catholic Church (and other christian churches too):

1. "I was answered that I must join none of them (Christian churches), for they were all wrong…their creeds were an abomination in [God’s] sight; that those professors were all corrupt" (Joseph Smith—History 1:19).

2. "Orthodox Christian views of God are pagan rather than Christian" (Mormon Doctrine of Deity, B. H. Roberts [General Authority], 116).

3. "Are Christians ignorant? Yes, as ignorant of the things of God as the brute beast" (Journal of Discourses, John Taylor [3rd Mormon President], 13:225).

4. "The Roman Catholic, Greek, and Protestant church, is the great corrupt, ecclesiastical power, represented by great Babylon" (Orson Pratt, Writings of an Apostle, Orson Pratt, n. 6, 84).

5. "All the priests who adhere to the sectarian [Christian] religions of the day with all their followers, without one exception, receive their portion with the devil and his angels" (The Elders Journal, Joseph Smith, ed. Vol. 1, n. 4, 60).

6. [Under the heading, "Church of the Devil," Apostle Bruce R. McConkie lists:] "The Roman Catholic Church specifically—singled out, set apart, described, and designated as being ‘most abominable above all other churches’ (I Ne. 13:5)" (Mormon Doctrine, 1958, 129).

7. "Believers in the doctrines of modern Christendom will reap damnation to their souls (Morm. 8; Moro. 8)" (Mormon Doctrine, 1966, Bruce R. McConkie, 177).

I think that point #6 (made by Bruce McConkie, and LDS apostle) best illustrates the kind of teachings in the LDS church that are not widely publicized.

I know that all you good mormons out there will say: "but the book Mormon Doctrine is not an official church publication!" That may be true, but how many of you have it on your bookshelf anyway?

Catholics don't hate mormons. But mormons twisted the bible making its own which is different than the original manuscripts from the prophets/ apostles. So mormon is considered a cult.

I'm mormon and I don't hate anyone!

Marvin J. Ashton, “Pure Religion,” Ensign, Nov. 1982, 63

A few weeks ago as I approached these temple grounds where I was to meet a friend, a young woman—a stranger to me—stepped up and said, “Would you like to know what kind of people these Mormons really are?”

I responded with, “I think I already know a little bit about what they really are.”

To this the heckler retorted, “They surely don’t live the teachings of Jesus Christ as they should.”

My concluding comment was, “Who does?”

As I continued my walk to the visitors’ center, I began to ponder the actions of those persons who are giving time and money to discredit, embarrass, ridicule, and shame those who have religious views that differ from their own. Sometimes such actions can unify and strengthen those who are attacked. However, in some few instances they plant seeds of discord, and at times righteous people are hurt by their slander.

I doubt that such actions can be called Christlike. At no time did Jesus Christ encourage us to spend time participating in damaging, destructive criticism. His message was to encourage us to seek, learn, and share all that is praiseworthy and of value as we associate with our fellowmen. Only those who are vindictive and cantankerous participate in ferreting out and advertising the negative and unsavory.

I will be forever grateful for the wise counsel my mission president gave me as I arrived in England to serve as a missionary. He said, “Elder Ashton, these people in this land have been at it a long time. If you will keep your eyes, ears, and mind open, you can learn much while you are here. Look for the good and overlook that which is different from your ways.”
