Start now, he's old enough. Mix a tiny amount of canned dog food in a little of the formula you are feeding him in a Tupperware (or whatever) lid, it has to be shallow. Rub a little on his mouth and when he licks slide the lid under his tongue.
Beware, he may have diarrhea for the first few days. His system has to adjust to the food.
Wean him slowly, a little at a time. Let him have the bottle until he is about 6 weeks old. Even though he's eating from a dish, he still wants the comfort of sucking from a bottle. That way when he is older he hopefully won't suck on stuff.

I kept my munchkin on the bottle for about 7 weeks.
After about 3 weeks you can start adding soaked dog food to the milk.
I would gradually make it thicker and thicker, all the while adding a little more dog food each day.
You will also have to make the hole in the nipple larger as the milk gets thicker ( I went through about 20 nipples)
You can gradually start putting the milk/food on your finger and when the baby starts eating it just transfer it to a small feeder.
I noticed the small glass ashtrays worked well for me, they are heavy, stay in place and don't tend to tip over.
The size of the feed dish will depend on the size of the puppy.
You can offer hard food as soon as he starts eating the soft food on its own.
