the only crime being committed is that your mom is a racist and thinks as a white man you should only date white women which is maybe true in her mind but in society it's acceptable my opinion is date whoever you want to date no matter what race have a talk with your mom and if she won't accept you dating a black women than exclude your mom from your life my mom also had a fit when i told her i was gay but i talked to her a few days later about it and not only does she accept me but she still loves me maybe your mom will change her ways

i hope i helped

It is obvious that your mom has been instilled with old teachings that interracial dating is wrong. However, there is absolutely nothing wrong with dating someone from a different race. If your girlfriend is a good person, that's all that matters. I would suggest sitting down with your mom and discuss the issue if your mom is that type to have an open discussion. I would ask her why she feels interracial relationships are wrong. Ask her what she means when she says you're a traitor. Explain to her about your girlfriend. Tell her why you like her. In other words ya gotta sell the idea to her. Yes I admit it may be hard to try to change someone's racial prejudice. You can also go about the Christian/Religious way (if she's religious) and approach her with the fact that Jesus loves everyone no matter what color, race, or sexual orientation. And if we are true Christians we are to follow Christ's examples.

In other words there are no logical reasons why one should not date someone of a different racial background. So your relationship with your girlfriend is a good thing. Keep dating.

So far as I know, we in the U.S. don't have a "racial crime" per se. A lot of people don't like to see inter-racial dating or marriage or bi-racial offspring, but there's no law the prohibits it. Maybe your mom was shocked and overreacted. Give her some time to calm down and then try to talk to her about it. I don't know how old you are or how long you've been dating this particular girl, but even though it is 2006 there are still a lot of bigots in this world and your mom might not be the only one who overreacts. Black guys might not like you dating a black girl, for example.

It is not a crime. You are in a touchy situation. Depending on your age will determine how to handle this. If you are over 18 and mom is not contributing to your livelihood, you can make a stand and stay with your girlfriend. You have to cut the ties sometime. Be gentle with your mom; you do not want to alienate her. Let her know that you love her and that this the person that you are involved with right now and that you do not know how long this will last. If this girl is the ONE, then you have to slowly let your mom get to know her. Always talk positively about your girlfriend, her inner beauty, her compassion, etc. and mom will eventually come around. After all mom is not going to lose you over anything. It will work out.

I don't think that it's a crime, but your mom might not see what you do in your girlfriend or might not have thought you would ever date someone of another race? I'm sure that there's a way you can balance the two of them and make each one happy, you shouldn't dump your girlfriend because obviously you love her, your mom will more than likely eventually come around to liking her. It just takes time sometimes. :) Good Luck!!

Of course it's not a racial crime to date someone of a different race. There are no laws forbidding this. Your mother is the one who is committing a racial crime by calling you a traitor to your race. Don't listen to her, keep on loving your girlfriend.

first let me tell you not to worry to much about what your mom says in that subject. Does she like only corn is she a trader to pizza if she only eats corn. what about movie does she only watch movies with people or is she a tradior is she watches barny. if your mom gets a tan did she become a tradior. can you affect the way the sun makes our skin different colors. does she die her hair. what im getting at is were all human we all bleed red blood. id she was dieing in the hospital , and she needed a blood transfussion. and the only blood avabile was a black man. i dont think the color of his skin is going to be a question. sorry to say this but you mom has some deep hatered issues against black people. next time you go into her favorite resturant and a and a black person feeds you or you get a flat tire and a black man helps you do you really think it will be an issue/

No, i don't think it is! Let your mom get used to the idea that your going to date who you want to date. Weather that means a "black" woman or a "white" woman. I know, easier said then done, but you can't give up. And if nothing changes, her lose! Maybe she was just in a bad mood that night. You know PMS or that time of the month, but talk to her about it. In a nice calm voice. Yelling solves nothing. See what she doesn't like about you going out with an African-American woman.

Good Luck!

Didn't bother Solomon. Feel sorry for your mom because of all she missed out on by ignoring such a large group of people. She's a product of her time and upbringing. It's sad but it's likely she won't change. If you love your girlfriend enough to marry her, tell mom to shut up and at least act like a mannerly adult when around the woman who may become your wife. If marriage isn't likely, don't bring them together.
To answer your question; the only crime here is your mother's hate.

I wouldnt say its a crime...but I have four sons, and I'd probably react the same way. And please do not think me racists, I have a lot of friends from all different races..I just don't believe in interracial dating. I grew up with a lot of mixed race friends and the teasing they endured because of it I wouldnt wish on any child. Childhood is hard enough, but to add on top of that a child trying to decide..are they white or black? I'll bet your mom is just thinking down the line in this way..maybe if you talk to her and find out what her issue exactly is maybe you can work it out.

It's not a racial crime your mom is just racist or at least would rather you not date a black woman. That's tough. But it works both ways. My grandfather would roll over in his grave if I dated a white guy, my father would be disappointed, but with each generation the more tolerant we become.
