Protein is essential for your hail and nails. Try eating products that are soy based (if you don't want to eat meats). You can find products with enriched nutrients (omega-3, antioxidants, vitamins a, b, c, d, e, etc.) that can be benificial for you. I started losing my hair after becoming anorexic and refusing to eat. Then I found a multivitamin and changed my eating habits, I eat organic, all natural, free-range products and I'm still able to lose weight (and eat so much healthier).

Eat foods that are rich in vitamins like greens vegetables cooked lightly, calcium is good too (also for your nails). Also, you should try taking a daily multi-vitamin like Women's One A Day.

Vegetables and water are two of the most effective things you can ingest for healthy skin and hair. Also, jello, jelly, pudding...anything with geletin makes for healthy hair and nails.
