5 or 6 megapixals should be good for 8x10

more will give slightly better at 8x10 but if u have more you can print bigger

its not just megapixals that matter...how good it handles iso is important...i suggest you decide a price range you want to spend and read reviews of individual cameras of how well they perform

canon a700 or sd700is(image stabilizer is nice)
olympus sp-350 or 720sw(shock and water resistant)
fuji f11 or f30 (good for low light)
Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ1K (has 10x zoom)

the higher the pixels the better for bigger sized pictures a 2 pixel is good for 4*6 but 2 pixel cameras are obselete now

we cant say any cam as the best...it depends on ur use like home use,or professional use etc...for a good picture u need a minimum of 4megapixel camera of a recognised company...that itself will give good images...however higher options are also availible..but price are too much for those...
